Just received a Russ Kommer bush pilot survival hatchet for the BoB from my girlfriend for my birthday. It seems like a great small/portable hatchet. Does anyone else have one or know anything about them. The online reviews seem great.

From what I have heard they are good, especially for a gift, it was very thoughtfull of your girlfriend to get it for you.

Only thing I have heard from folks who have one is that the back "hammer" side of the tool is not very beefy to use as a hammer since it is made for compact and lightweight packing.

They also have a longer version called an Alaskan Canoe Hatchet.

+1 for the GF's present choice..
