Cadillac of the .224 bullets. Way overpriced for a 62gn bullet. Significantly overpriced for a 77gn bullet for that matter.

There's no reason to shoot a 'non-lead' slug in a 62gn .223 round, unless you're hunting a prize bird of Venezuela or something. :) Stay price conscious, young Jedi.

I bought some for 5.99 at the-armory.com and they shot well but were dirty. I did not chronograph them but they did penetrate 1/4" steel.

    The bullets were dirty?

TAC-X are TSX in a tactical black box, and the 62s are THE killing bullet for a 0.224" AR, since 75 AMax don't reasonably fit the standard mag.

I've shot thousands from a variety of headstamps and they have always impressed.

The TSX is my real .224" SHTF stash. Not that I consider the 5.56x45/AR15 to be my go-to SHTF rig.
I went with the 55 grain TSX based on DocGKR's recommendations.

If the SHTF fan I probably won't be taking into consideration what my ammo cost per round.

I wouldn't buy a bunch of premium ammo/projectiles unless you have a good stash of common ammo.

I already have a decent size stash of .223/5.56. So, I will not be loading thousands of rounds. I was thinking maybe 100 or so. On top of my FMJ and steel core. Just like my with my 7.62x39 stash, I like to have a variety of bullet types.

That's a plan. Work up a good load, then load the rest.
Later you can pick up and load a box or two here and there until you have several magazines worth of TSX.
