    Does anyone know how to tan hides? Mainly for rabbit furs i will turn into coyote lure. any info will help. and i would rather save money. unless someones gonna chrge 5 bucks.

    look up dixie gun works. they have a huge catalog full of really cool stuff. they also sell a box of tanning compund that comes with simple directions.I bought a box several years ago and did a coyote to hang on the wall,but practiced on a squirrel hide first.it's easy and cheap.don't mess with the old salt/alum/deer brains mess.

    you can buy a bottle of liquide stuff from gaunder mountain or hoosier trappers supply , it has the instruction right on the back of the bottle , its will cost aroud $10 or $12 for a bottle but it will do a few small hides

    For the use you are putting them to, all you have to do is skin them well, make sure there are not bits of meat on the hide, then apply a liberal dose of salt or Borax and let it dry thoroughly. You really don't need them tanned to use them as a decoy.
