Went to the range today and got to shoot a friend's Taurus PT something or other. I want to say 109? 111, maybe?-- a compact 9mm where the pinky is off the grip.

The trigger was pretty bad. Not only was the pull like burrowing through sand, but it didn't break until it was almost in contact with the rear of the guard. Long AND gravel-like.

My friend isn't a gun guy and the gun is rarely shot. Does it need some cleaning and maintenance, or is this par for the course for a Taurus PT? I have no experience with platform apart from this that I can compare it to.

The roughness will probably get better with use. He should get some snap caps and practice dry firing it. The trigger pull length was the reason I sold my PT145. It was a good shooting gun I just didn't care for the long trigger.
