At the present time, the NAACP has a lawsuit against a number of firearms manufacturers, claiming that they've flooded black communities with firearms. (Fact of the matter is the manufacturers have no control over where the firearms go -- that's determined by the dealers who order the firearms.) Revealing the historical facts concerning how gun control laws were racist in their beginnings would be counterproductive at this time, I'm told.

If the NAACP goes through with their lawsuit at this time they can never, I repeat, never, bring up the issue of how Blacks have been discriminated against via racist gun laws in the future. How can the NAACP complain that Blacks in America have been historically denied the protection of the Second Amendment and at the same time sue firearms manufacturers for selling guns to Blacks? They can't have it both ways. Besides, if the NAACP does win the lawsuit, won't that make the cost of guns we need for self-defense unaffordable for some poor people who might need them the most?

    Poignant.

that would be fine if any ghetto-related firearms crimes were purchased inside legal means.

NAACP claims they want equality but play the black card in every issue.

This is a fascinating read, especially if you're into history. It details how gun control was really started to "keep the brother down". It was completely racist, and now the modern media & "race-peddlers" would rather keep this quite.

I'm glad that a historically relevant article like this can be safely posted on this forum now.

It gives context to the beginnings of gun control in this country, and merits intellectually honest discussion.

i don't understand what this is trying to prove. much of this was written many many generations ago.
200 years ago blacks weren't considered citizens, nor were the chinese, or indians, or mexicans. they weren't citizens of our nation then, so yes, not being subject to our laws, they were prohibited from keeping weapons.

hate to tell you but our nation that was formed on escaping tyranny and forcible acquisition; and was based on tyranny and forcible acquisition

liberal propaganda \ disguised as conservative propaganda. get a ****ing clue.

The point to posting this article is it shows how gun control began from first denying ONE group of people their right to bear arms.

By doing this first, it made it easier for the anti-gun crowd to spread the loss of the right to bear arms to other groups.

This "divide and deny" strategy is still in force today.

Notice how over time they keep adding new groups who can be denied?

    This is how tyrants work.
FIRST they deny the rights of people who enough in society consider "marginal".
Then once the camel's nose is under the tent, they incrementally add more over time.

This is why when ANY of us have our rights taken away, it hurts ALL of us.
