Purchased a new programmable thermostat today to replace the 34-y.o. mercury switch round t-stat in our house.
And it seems that I'm electronics-dumb.
It's a typical 4-wire set up, but I'm having trouble translating the "old" wiring into the new device.
It doesn't help that I'd just as soon not ruin the HVAC, blow our house up, or poison the 3 of us with CO.
Attached are pictures of Old & new. I'm hoping someone can help me translate it!
Old:
Labels as follows if you can't see them. Clockwise from 12:00:
green wire = G
blue wire = Y
white wire = w
red wire = R
empty = O
empty = 4
New:
Also, what should I do with the old thermostat?
TIA,
