What does it mean when it says thread is watched next to "views"

It means you'll get notifications (and emails, if you selected that options) when new replies are posted to the thread. Happens automatically when you reply to the thread, or can be turned on and off manually with the "watch/unwatch" button to the top-right of the first post on each page.
