The match is a GO. Wait till after the match to wash your vehicle as it will get muddy. Wear boots as you will be walking in mud. Other than that it should be great! I won't be there, so extra hands to help Don get set-up would be appreciated. Also, bring work gloves for picking up the plates out of the mud to reset the TX stars.

Marion County Fish and Game's next Texas Star Match is scheduled for this Saturday, February 22nd at 1 PM. Setup will begin at Noon and we will need the help of a several volunteers. The Safety Meeting (required for new shooters) will be at 12:45 PM to explain the rules. At 1:00 PM, we will begin shooting.

Remember to bring heavy duty work gloves. Putting the plates back on the Texas Star can be messy and will possibly damage gloves made out of softer material.

The cost is $3 per bracket for club members and $4 per bracket for non-members. All money goes toward the club and/or making the competition better. Youth (under theage of 18) shoot free with a paid adult.

Texas Star matches are conducted under a COLD RANGE. That means all guns must be holstered (or bagged) at all times, unloaded, hammer down, with no magazine inserted. You may only handle your gun at the direction of a range officer (RO), or at the designated safe table. Violation of this or any other safety rules shall result in a match disqualification.

If you have any questions about the match, please read the rules posted at:www.IndyRange.org (look under Programs and Events > Bowling Pins) If you are unable to find an answer posted in the rules, please feel free to email me.

If you are willing to help as an RO or help keep score, that would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of people have asked about shooting .22LR on the Texas Star. Wish we could, but we haven't found any gun/ammo combination that is capable of knocking the plates off the arms. Even a triple tap doesn't get the job done.

Texas Stars is basicly limited to center-fire hand guns with iron sights. No optics. No rifles. Sorry.

No shotguns either?? We use them on Texas stars in Multigun shooting matches.

    Correct. No shotguns.

Because we have two TX Stars and shoot head to head, we have no way to make the playing field level if one person is shooting a shotgun but competing against someone shooting a pistol.

Could pair shotguns together and run best 2 out of 3.

Count 2 more in... Weather looks to be nice. Hope you will have this in the large Bay so we can walk on rock and not mud.
