I had a cigar box full of old paper hull shotgun shells that my brother and I got in a bunch of brass/bullets/ammunition that we bought.
Since they were decades old and had not been properly stored, we decided to cut them open and reclaim the shot.
About half of them were loaded with black powder. The others had a variety of smokeless powders. One very fine powder that was rust red colored. (Still burnt well)
Three shells, all Peters brand, had a course off white powder in them. Yes, it did burn well. I had never seen this before. Anyone seen this before?
As a side note, one of the rounds had a spent primer. When I cut it open, it had shot where the powder should have been.
