Local guy has a S&W Safety Hammerless in .38 S&W, 4" barrel, with grip safety.

He doesn't know the history of it, but its got a decent bore. Some pitting around at the start of the barrel (chamber end), but other than that it looks good. Also someone has refinished it in black paint. Could be an actual gun paint, could be spray paint, we don't have a clue.

He wants $250 for it. Is that an ok deal? Other than the fact its been refinished to something completely non factory, and I dont have any .38 S&W, Im thinking that might be an ok price.

    what do you think?

It's not a 38 s&w special . It shoots a 38 s&w which is short and less powerful than a .380 .It will not have any collector value dew to refinishing .
worth @ 150. and depends how bad you want it.
