Found a few boxes of ammo deep in the stash, with no memory of where it came from. Any value or collectability in this stuff? The shells are waxed paper and have a delicious smell of crayons D0D63AD9-0073-4BE1-9F91-1E052D97AB55.jpeg 4A7ED6B6-CA2E-4D53-915F-9AF2790075BB.jpeg AB6B8624-4CDB-4716-A7AC-62B36A827DEC.jpeg 52F10117-8014-40D6-8682-AE750942E56E.jpeg 413EAE7B-C3EC-48D8-9312-7695F2644A34.jpeg 46998C20-6CB5-4946-8CC4-39409C5FA5EA.jpeg

    Sell them to a marine

Seriously, ammo collecting is a thing but I don't do it so I don't know much about it. I do know that a lot of the Remington-Peters stuff often looks older than it is

    Near the big river.
Found some paper 12 gauge when my father in law passed. Shot them and they seemed hot. They shot fine with no signs of over pressure. Have always heard they were in those days versus today.

If the shotshells were old enough to pre date the compression one piece wads, they did feel like more recoil than modern shells, even that have the same exterieor ballistics.

Typically the old shells had a disc of cardboard over the powder with 3/16th inch of cork disk and another cardboard disc under the shot with no shot cup. That did very little to dampen the initial hit of the powder. You got it all in your shoulder instantly. The modern compression wads still push back the same amount, but the recoil accelerates over a longer time base. Modern ones "feel" like less recoil.
