SOLD
Up for sale is a very vintage Marbles Ideal Hunting Knife. Overall length is 12" with a 7 1/2" blade. As far as I can determine (based on the left-pointing serif in the "Marbles" stamping) this knife dates from late 1919 to the early 1930's. The blade is clean, no knicks, and carries a wonderful old patina. My research tells me that this knife was probably made with an early version of 1095 carbon steel. The sheath is almost certainly not original to the knife; it has a USN stamp on it and is in fairly rough condition.
The Ideal knife was in production from 1899 to 1974, with a revival from 2007 to 2010. I've found these knives in similar condition being offered for sale from $100 to $300. I'll sell it here on INGO for $80. I'd prefer a FTF sale in order to ensure the buyer's satisfaction with the condition. However, I will ship with the understanding that the knife is being represented accurately and is being sold "As Is".
Please keep all questions to PM's; no "PM Sent" bumps please.
