The folks at Project Vote Smart have created a new site for the November races. It's a spiffy interface and covers most of what you want to know about the candidates, (those who've answered, at any rate). The Q&A's are pretty simple and cover about 12 issues. Might help you see where some of the candidates stand on issues. Obviously, the questions don't contain the nuances that a more in depth questionnaire would, but they do serve to point you in the right direction. Just click on your state, put your zip in and you're off!

As I suspected, I can't get above 60% with any candidate of any party, and I'm in the 55 - 59% range for both Democrats and Republicans. Flip a coin?

I ended up at 79% even with my 2 candidates. The d's and r's are non-starters for my votes and one of my candidates is going to have to answer a couple of key questions to earn my vote. Ellsworth was the lowest, at 19%. Like he was ever going to get my vote.

I got an 80% with Coats, but take that with a huge grain of salt because every issue they indicated as "in agreement" was "inferred." And there were a lot of qualifications to my answers that would likely have put us at opposite ends since the presumption is that the stance I take is relative to the government's role in it. That is not the case, particular in issues like abortion and marriage.

The one question they didn't ask is "Would you vote for the incumbent?"

I would mark "No", and "Very Important", and all but ignore the other issues.
