I made a comment about this to someone the other day. Noticed that it doesn't use the typical "Welcome to Illinois"...
Even their tourism brochures talk about "Chicago-land". Sounds like a 1920's version of "chiraq"

About two years ago, while I was hauling a pair of criminals to our Spa and Resort, we had a discussion about crimes committed. It seems that one of them had pulled some robberies in IL around Chicago, but in no way shape or form would he do that here in IN.

When asked why, he said that in IL only the criminals and the poice have guns. Here in IN, however, EVERYBODY has a gun, and that we carry concealed. He also alluded that we in Indiana would shoot an armed robber "just because." Of course, I did not say anything at all to dissuade him from the belief.

I like the billboards along I-80/94 up there in The Region calling people to do business in Indiana because the taxes are lower. One of them was a luxury auto dealership in Schereville. Great marketing!
