What round is this?

I have some casings I picked up at the range and I cannot figure out what round it is. Looking or some help from someone with more knowledge than me! The casing is short in length than 30-06 and larger than .308 and has markings on the bottom 12 and 55 with two stars dividing them? Case neck mics out at .323 or 8.25mm and length is 2.23'' or 56.7mm

Rimmed or not?

7mm Mauser if its the external case mouth diameter

If it's internal the .303 British also matches that case length, and is rimmed, very similar to the 8mm Mauser.

More than likely with that headstamp it will be a 8mm mauser. I think some turkish ammo has numbers with stars. could also be eastern block, romanian, yugo, etc.. east block cartridges used this format for case coding.

of course inside or outside case mouth dimensions will make a difference.

Could also be 6.5 swedish,
