When putting a pistol or any handgun away for long term storage, what are some of the things you do? Looking for tips for when I have one I don't plan on shooting for a long time (maybe over a year or more). Thanks.

What I have been doing is I do as good a job as I can cleaning it first. Then I wipe down inside and out with RIG. Not just the contact points but what I can get to without getting much on any wood or plastic, if there's any of that. With magazines I do the same thing inside and out then put in a plastic bag also with RIG inside the bag. For the guns I usually just keep on the rack, but should they go in a bag too?

Should the RIG application be lightly applied or smeared on thickly? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
