Bought a cheap chinese one and it fell apart on me rather quickly. Looking to get a more quality one that will last and stand up to the punishment that a beginner with butter fingers is going to put it thru.

Kershaw has one (Lucha) that seems nice and bear and son have a bunch of them.

Let me know if you want any quotes.

There are also some trainers if you want just to play with and drop

Maxace Serpent Striker v3 is a pretty good deal. Availability is kind of spotty, I don't know of any American retailers that carry it yet; plenty have the v2 version which I would skip.
you can order from china, expect three week wait
    from Finland it's faster.

The Kershaw Lucha is a good knife, heavy, fast, strong aftermarket including replacement handles and pivot hardware. The base version seems best of them all, steel throughout, very durable.

250-300 could get you a Krake Raken. Probably the best flipper you'll find under 300.
