:xmad::xmad::xmad:Today I was given the job of telling a visitor that he would have to remove his firearm, and secure it in his vehicle if he would like to remain in the building. He was very apologetic, and had his permit out when staff brought him out in the hall so I could talk with him.

I work armed security at a hospital in Indianapolis. The hospital I am at has one officer for the whole hospital. My back up is two or three blocks away in another hospital. I really wanted to tell the staff in that area, if I am on the other side of the building and some nut job starts shooting this side of the building. You would have just unarmed a person that potentially could have stopped him.:xmad::xmad::xmad:

near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
You can always let him know that as far as you were concerned that you were glad to have other responsible armed people around but that the hospital policy forbade it. And without saying so you could make the point that you wouldn't be scrutinizing him too hard when he came back in...

Why does a hospital post a no weapons sign on the door then feel they need to hire armed security? Somewhere, someone knows how foolish that prohibition is.

The hosptial has always had armed security. The signs are a new concept. After he removed his firearm he came back over to me, and we chatted about gun related stuff for about five minutes or so. I also sugested his next purchase be a bit more concealable than a Springfield XD45.

    I feel your pain.

Try being the guy to argue that a pistol-gripped shotgun is a "handgun."

(Worse, imagine winning that argument.) :n00b:

That's not how the antis think of it. They don't look at it as disarming someone who could have helped. They look at it as disarming someone who could snap and shoot up the place at any moment. To be fair, they're not necessarily wrong, either (although I still disagree with the policy).

I did ask the staff if he could be off duty LE. One nurse replied "OH NO he is just one of those people who carry a gun every where to prove a point." I replied with "I carry a gun everywhere, what point am I trying to prove?" She walked away.

I know I've snapped and gone on a shooting rampage, what is it now, zero times? Hard to keep count when the numbers get up there.

my personal beliefs clash with company policy everyday. I work in a place where i have been robbed at gunpoint and company policy dictates I cant carry. This is bs. I think when **** hits the fan i should get to decide whether or not I live not some meth head with a gun or the board of directors
