I just picked up a Springfield Armory 1911 A-1 and wanted to try it out. But I also wanted wifey to get comfortable with our Colt 1911 Officer's model. We began in our house practicing chambering a snap cap and then doing magazine exchanges. She did some dry fire here. Then we went to a Do It Best Hardware store (I was OC'ing but not very frightening, darn it) to pick up some paint, then off to Izaak Walton. She put on my Mitch Rosen holster and my double magazine pouch and proceeded to make holes in targets I had printed. (I'm basically a cheap sob). She did well and didn't need me much. The gun jammed a few times and I suspect it is because her wrist is a little too weak, but she got to the point where she could clear most of them and keep shooting. It was a pleasant afternoon with my honey of 40 years.
