Did you ever load for a self defense snub nose and wonder about punching through heavy winter clothing?
I got to thinking about the pointy bullet designs used in the 1860's war in percussion revolvers to get through all that wool and cotton.
And about the effectiveness of FMJ bullets in 9mm and 45 pistols. I'm going to test these in a .41 snub nose.

I doubt the penetration will be better that a heavy SWC but it could be an interesting experiment.

Just use a hard cast wadcutter. That's what I went to for 38 snub nose. It will make a nice clean cut hole in someone just like the WFNGC bullets do.

That's what I currently keep it loaded with, Lyman's #41026 plain base wadcutter. It's a splatter load on whatever it hits, even when fired from a percussion revolver.

This is a design for the .41 Blackhawk but it's too long for the snub nose cylinder.

I did a water jug test on my 38 special wadcutter load it went through 5 gallons and kept going. So it definitely has penetration capabilities in a snub nose. Maybe I should back off on the powder a little more.
