I think I just saw the worst carry style ever by a plain clothes cop. VERY cringeworthy.

I stumbled across the Gary Plauche video. As I was watching it this time something caught my eye. Ive seen the video before repeatedly. But never noticed this gem.

The detective escorting the kiddy diddler was Mexican carrying what looked like J frame. But get this. it was at the 4 oclock, butt forward. When I first saw it I cringed a bit.

Then he tried to draw, and his drawstroke is HORRENDOUS. :faint:

He didnt get a positive grip by sliding the back of his hand down his back to find the grip squarely. He had to grab the butt of the pistol by the bottom like he was pulling a string that was sticking out of his dog's butt and then drag the pistol out of his drawers. Which meant he had to then go through hand gymnastics to finally get a grip on the revolver.

    Sheesh.

That trucker hat disguise was inordinately effective, much like Clark Kent's glasses. The LEOs recognized him immediately after he fired, but not as they approached.

His shot placement was inordinately effective, as well.
Single shot at approximately 6 feet, on a moving target, escorted by LE.

    Ballsy.
I love when a plan comes together.

It is what it was, but I wonder why the escort, when seeing one, or more, people at the phone bank, didn't change his position to the perp's other side. This would put himself between the perp and any possible threat at that juncture. Perhaps there were more possibles to his left, behind the cameras. Or perhaps the cameras and reporters themselves posed a more credible threat?
If he had, I wonder if Gary would still have proceeded with his plan, and, if so, whether there would have been additional casualties.

My gym has a rotating cast of security employees that run the entire spectrum, from open carry Shields and G2s in nylon and Velcro holsters to a dude who was absolutely dripped out with a modern LBT carrier, Safariland duty holster, pistol optic, medical, etc. Never know what you're gonna get.

My favorite combo was probably Shield, Serpa Derpa, and Stargate tactical vest. As they all work for security companies, though, it does appear that at minimum they must have A holster.
