SP2022 magazine question "plus 2"

Hey fellows. Looking to add a couple 17 round (plus 2) magazines for my sp2022. Through TopGunSupply they offer a Mec-Gar plus 2 or a Sig Sauer "factory" 17 round. They look nearly identical.

Which one for optimum reliability? Did Sig ever ship the Sp2022 with 17 round mags? Anyone have experience with the extended magazine?

I've purchased a couple of "plus 2" magazines from Mec-Gar, and the only issue I have with them is that sometimes when you insert the magazine into the well, it may release the slide chambering a round. I've had this happen a few times, so I'm not sure if it's a design flaw or I'm locking the magazine too hard into the well. As far as performance, works just fine, no failure to feed.

Thanks cook4army. Must not be a lot of INGOers with this setup. Just so happens I was at a LGS and came across the "factory" Plus2 for $35. After I put a couple hundred rounds through it I'll post my thoughts on it.

No problem. I love my 2022. Just be wary of the after-market mags may have bugs in them.

Mec-Gar is a OEM supplier of magazines to many gun Companys. Sig is one of those.

If you go to Sig's store page, the 17rd mag they sell says Mec-gar on the bottom.

I have Mec-Gar mags for all my Sigs and even the 17 rounders for the SP2022.

No experience with the plus 2 mags but mec-gar makes good stuff.
