Reliability is a risk when u get into 3" or 3.5" 1911s that dont have some re-engineering added to the original design.
Get a commander (4" or 4.25") size and don't look back

In general I'd say throttletony is probably right, but I honestly can't remember if mine has ever had a failure. I've had it about 25 years or so and it's been pretty dependable. Enough so that its the nightstand gun, if that tells you anything.
Mine's not super pretty, but it does seem to get the job done.

I have two 3” barrel 1911’s (Colt Defender 9mm and a Kimber Ultra Carry II 45ACP) with zero reliability issues. With that said, I don’t know how they compare to the Springfield you’re asking about.

Same experience here except with a S&W 3". Personally, it's not my favorite configuration for a 1911 but I can't say I've had issues though the gun only has a few hundred rounds through.

+1. I prefer at LEAST 4" with a small .45. I THINK it was Skelton or maybe Keith the wrote " once you change the caliber or OAL of the original design many issues can, and usually, pop up.

My 3" Springfield has been 100% reliable.
the only item I've had to replace in 15 years was the extractor.
And it didnt like the factory magazine
    I wouldn't hesitate
