I've got a Mossberg 590A1 with a top rail on it. Purely a defensive setup I've had for about a year. I've lately been considering putting a red dot on it but would need one that would hold up to the abuse of 12g. It would also need to either co-witness or sit slightly above the stock ghost ring sights.

Google is no help, as most of the returns are sales pitches.

    Thanks in advance!

My thought was a holosun with the Circle dot reticle. Should stand up to the abuse just fine.

Sog’s mini red dots also have me interested. I have seen Romeo 5’s for under $200 pretty frequently.

Co witness might push you to the RDS world.

Beware of the placement. Sometimes getting shells over the receiver into the chamber get difficult because it gets in the way.

I've been eyeballing the R5 pretty hard. Have never used or even handled holosun stuff before so I don't know a lot about them.

Watch Airidus Industries, IIRC he is working on a CROM for a Mossberg but I'm not certain which model(s) it will fit. I recently put one on my 1301 and love the thing.
