    SW M&P for sure.
Edit. This made sense when there were two duplicate threads.

I shoot both Glock and M&P and find subtle differences between them. It just comes down to what you are comfortable with. Both are fine weapons.

My friend and I shot yesturday actually, he has the MP 9mm and I have a Glock 17. Both shoot well, look nice, are ready for an attatchment. I like the trigger and slide release better on my Glock, other than those areas I like them both quite well. I'm also a pretty big guy and the G17 fits my hand a little better! Nice guns!:rockwoot:

Either one are great guns! I've owned the M&P 40 full size, but having recently switched to all 9mm pistols, I went to a Glock 17 for my home defense gun. I have the generation 4 model with night sights. The M&P was very comfortable in my hand, but the Glock feels more secure in my hand with the new texture and shortened SF grip.

Having owned a Glock 22, I can say that the M&P handles recoil of the .40 S&W caliber better, to me. I'd go back to an M&P if I was using .40 caliber. But in 9mm, I think Glocks are best.

Which ever one fits you the best - both are good guns.

+1 I tried (2) XDs (9mms) and now (2) M&Ps (1 9mm and a .45) before I have thrown the towel in and realized that I prefer to CCW my G19 or one of the Kimber 1911 .45s...

Have you been able to actually try these at the range? It would be ideal if you test fire them and see which you prefer....

The G19 is very hard to beat for a carry weapon, size, weight, feel and ultrareliable....

    Thats my :twocents:,

You really can't go wrong with either one. I'd get an M&P, but that's only because I already have a glock and I like a little variety. They're both great guns. I do like the serrations on the M&P slide and the look of it, but I havn't shot one. I know my glock shoots great though.

I was going to pick up an M&P a few weeks ago until I did quite a bit of research and found that a lot of people were having problems with the "white dot" on the front sight just falling off. It is not a big deal really but for the kind of coin you have to drop on an M&P that just seems silly to deal with something like that. I'm sure I'll get over it and buy one anyway some day.

I bought the M&P 9mm compact for my wife to carry. To be honest I like it a lot. I've only put 200-250 rounds thru it so far. No problems with it at all. I've not shot the 17 so no help there.

I have shot both and owned both. I prefer M&P. Made in USA, very good lifetime waranty by S&W, ergonomics are better, fully supported chamber, and the CrimsonTrace Lasergrip is much better for M&P.
As to the white dot problems, I have had maybe 2,000 rounds through mine and no problems with my sites or malfunctions. Actually I sorta wish one of my white dots would pop off because I know others that have had this problem and S&W replaced them with Trijicon nightsites for free and paid shipping to their service department.
Honestly I think you will have a nice handgun either way you go

While I would agree that the number of people whose white dots fell out indicates a problem that S&W needs to address, a dab of white paint fixed mine up pretty easily and I haven't had a problem since, nor have I had any other problems with my M&P

I used to own a coupe of Glocks... I now own a few M&P's... End of the story.

Here's a little M&P eye candy to help with your decision:

I agree with the "both" statement.

I have an M&P, and I like it. No new barrel "necessary" <if you believe Glock on that> to shoot lead out of, no need to switch the sights out for new ones, works great with Crimson Trace, etc.

Do I want a Glock? yep. One of these days...no Gen4 crap for me tho. Gen 3 baby.
