Finally bought one. The scope belongs to my AR. I am currently in the market for a scope for this rifle. This rifle comes standard with a reminder to put your hands forward of the charging handle when firing the weapon.

That is on my list, but it is going to take a while to get my "toy fund" up to the near $3000 required to enter.

Great rifle by a company that recognizes that we the people like military style weapons.

It has a reciprocating charging handle? :n00b:

If so, that's a -1 in my book.

The ACR's charging handle does not...which I would prefer. Now Bushmaster needs a .308 ACR.

moot point really:twocents:. There are moving parts on almost all guns, being familiar with your firearm is part of responsible ownership.

I see what you're saying but it's not really a moot point. It all depends on how people like to hold their rifles. Ever seen a guy who like to hold his AR close to the mag well pick up a mini14 or a Garand? When you're used to being able to pick up a rifle and hold it a certain way without getting your hand hammered by a charging handle it can make a pretty big deal getting used to a new rifle. I wish the charging handle didn't move, but for a SCAR 308 I could get over it pretty quickly. If that's the worst feature of the gun (other than price) than I'll keep it on my wish list.

No, it's not. Responsible ownership has nothing to do with me (a right handed shooter) picking up my rifle in a hurry and getting the shots off I need, without worrying about a charging handle.

Like I said, I would prefer the ACR, which does NOT have a reciprocating charging handle. :twocents:

Why does responsible gun ownership not include you knowing your weapon? Being mindful of the moving parts of a firearm should also be in your mind. It is the same as flipping off a safety, knowing where your bolt moves on a bolt gun when mounting optics, or keeping your hand low enough on a grip to not get bit by a slide. I see no difference in a reciprocating charging handle as a moving slide or bolt:twocents:

Dude, maybe you aren't comprehending my posts.

I (ME, MINUTEMAN47) WOULD PREFER AN ACR, because it does not have a reciprocating charging handle...there, I said it again.

Why should I change the way I grip my rifle...? Responsible gun ownership? Give me a break.

A quick google search on the SCAR reciprocating charging handle shows that I'm not the only irresponsible gun owner.

Maybe I did misunderstand you, if you prefer a different rifle thats great but if anyone (not just you) chose to use the rifle it is a responsibility to know that system. That was my one and only point, nothing against you personally, or your preference.

If it is your preference that you do not like it clearly you are not going to use it making it a moot point. If you were issued it or forced to carry it out of necessity you would familiarize yourself with the system and be mindful of the charging handle once again making it a moot point. Is that not a sound line of reasoning?

Nope. If I were issued the rifle and forced to use it, then I might swap the charging handle to the other side.

    But, that's just me.

Great rifle, I would love to shoot one -

The ACR may not have a reciprocating charging handle, but is not nearly in the same class as the SCAR.
