I covered this over the weekend. We followed the parents when they went looking in Hoosier National Forest for Lauren on Sunday. The mom asked me if I was from Bloomington (I went to IU but not much knowledge outside of the city) and if I knew anything about bordering towns, dividing lines, etc... All while they're walking around screaming her name campsite to campsite. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone so desperate and lost.

It was hard to watch. A dozen people walking around a park that large. At one point Mom picked up a beer bottle she found in the woods in case it was "evidence".

I feel awful for anybody going through that, I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like. I can't believe a "friend" saw her walking down the street barefoot at 4am and didn't stop to check on her or take her home.

I was always amazed at how carelessly female students would behave when I was at IU. More than once I walked one or more drunk girls back to their dorm or apartment rather than let them leave a party alone in the dark. It reflects badly on young men in our culture that protecting young women is such a low priority. The thought probably doesn't even occur to most college aged men.

most chicks won't let you walk them home and any person that knows you made the effort just accuses you of trying to hookup with a drunk chick. It can be so frowned upon that you don't want to deal with the accusations. I say this from experience.

Years ago a buddy and I got jumped two blocks from where this girl was last seen. I highly recommend not going north of tenth street if late and you aren't mentally 100% and on high alert.

This is really a sad deal. I hope they find closure quickly.

exactly!!! It has served me well in my former profession and in my former single social life and even now as a married father no longer in search of "tail" NOT to EVER be in a circumstance alone with a female unknown to me, ESPECIALLY if she is drunk. all it takes is one even false accusation to RUIN the rest of your life or take away your freedom. If a woman doesnt value her reputation and safety more than to be a wondering drunk then its not my job as a person strolling by to be her babysitter. now that being said, if I ever saw a person under assault I would render as much aid as I safely could without becoming a victim myself. but you dont have to travel far or to a college to see drunk wondering women with no regard for their safety. All we can do is try to teach our daughters not to put themselves into danger by bad or unsafe behavior. its still sad that their are evil people in the world who do sick things to ANYONE, not just young college girls. im not trying to be insensitive just being honest

Its my opinion that IF foul play is involved in this case that with the reportedly quick response by her friends to notice her missing and start to search for her, that a person who might have abducted her would not have had the ability to move her far. im not at all familiar with that area, so I dont know the routes of the city etc that one might use. but hopefully this is a circumstance that will allow for her to be found unharmed somewhere around the city or campus and it looks like the police might be thinking the same way since it was reported that they kicked in some local doors there. If I were searching I would be focusing in on the immediate area she was last seen. I would be asking business owners if any of their employees have been unusually absent from work or unusually tardy in the last few days, or acting stranger than normal, etc. I would also be wanting a list of ALL the people who attended any parties around the area that night.

They kicked in the door to the Apartment security office where she was staying.

Apparently, the apartment owners couldn't or wouldn't get down there in time to unlock the door to the security office.

They were looking for security cam footage.

I just saw on the news that the apartment building where she lives, refused to open a door where their camera recording devices were kept so the police knocked down the door. why in hell would they refuse to open the door? why wouldnt you do everything possible to assist in helping to find this girl? jackballs! the police had a warrant anyways. If I were a student I would be moving my **** out of that apartment place.

Two operations in bloomington are proving how seedy they are. I hope she is alive, but think a crime happened because of her condition. Someone took advantage of a situation and that makes me mad.

that apartment complex is HIGHLY secretive, my friend used to be a maintenance man for them. stuff like your access card only allows you to go to the floor you live on etc.

I hope it turns out that she chose to just disappear for a while due to personal issues. But in today's world, since she's young, tiny and attractive, it's just as likely that she's been sold into human trafficking.

Well militarypol21 and I spent the morning and early part of the afternoon searching the woods near Griffy Lake. Saw quite a few ROTC men out there searching the area as well, but didn't see any missing person. I just hope somebody finds her. It's an almost hopeless feeling to travel the area and see how many places there are to look for her. Two of us on foot seemed like a joke compared to how many acres of forests there are in that area with Morgan Monroe, Hoosier National, etc. all in the general area of Bloomington.

The police served the warrant after the apartment managers went home. Nobody there had keys and police didn't want to wait for a manager to get back there. They were cooperating to the best of their ability.

Fox 59 just reported there may have been an altercation in the lobby. I would assume they got this info, then got the search warrant, and was in a hurry to see it.

I am like the other and really amazed this doesn't happen more often as well. I am not proud of it but as a younger man, I have done the same thing countless times including passing out in the bushes of a building and not waking up until the morning.

we all have my friend. its just different when a girl does it because they are vulnerable to attack more so than a male.

this case is not looking good, the longer it goes. how many days is it now? looks like its getting national attention. maybe the added preasure will cause any players involved to goof up and be caught. I still have hope she is alive.
