I fall in both the fun and practical purpose categories.

Same here. I've been lucky over the past few years and I have fun guns and real use guns. Although I could justify each one with a purpose if I had to I guess. There is nothing wrong with owning a firearm just so that you can shoot/drool on it for the sole purpose of liking it. :twocents:

I bought my first fun gun at the 1500 last Friday. It's just a .22 handgun for plinking. One thing I don't understand is owning a few large caliber guns just to shoot for fun. However, the reason I can't understand that is probably because I don't have the money to.

    Aren't all guns fun?

All mine are "functional" in that I train with the 10/22 and sportsman .22 revolver, carry the Walther PPS 9mm, and have the SKS ready if SHTF.

I don't think I'd ever own a gun that doesn't serve a real purpose. But then I don't really think anything but the most exotic weapons/calibers would be guns with no "purpose", as any gun is usually always an asset if crap gets real.

It's not a gun if you don't shoot it every once in a long while, so "antiques" or "collectables" wouldn't count IMHO.

All of my future gun plans involve guns that would be for a purpose.

Pretty much all of my guns serve a specific purpose and I do happen to have a few purposes that are covered by more than one gun.

The only gun I really have that is for fun only is my Mosin Nagant, but for less than $100 out the door for the gun and cheap ammo to feed it I said why not. :D

thats my hang up with the Hipoint 995 carbine, they look like fun but I favor my Mossberg 500 for hd and I cant think of anything I can do with it but haul it back and forth to the range, and feed it.

i guess it depends on your definition of a "fun gun"??? Do you mean an high dollar gun that you dont shoot very often? Or do you mean a gun that you dont use for anything else than just target/range time? Or just a gun that you enjoy shooting every time you go out?

For me i enjoy all my guns.....but right now my 2 favorite ones are a 1908 Winchester pump action .22 (handed down to me from my great grandfather). The other is a hi point 995ts. Its accurate and reasonably priced to shoot and reliable, Ya cant ask for anything better.

Every last one of mine serve a purpose. Each fill a void in my life.

At last count, there are at least 53 "voids" that have been filled. With any luck, there'll be another 50 or so "voids" to fill in the coming years.

I own a couple of old Sevens .22s that I will not shoot for safety reasons. They are heirlooms, not fun guns, though. My other weapons have a series purpose—carry, training, self-defense, hunting (a future hope).

I would like to own a couple just for fun. I recently saw an authentic replica of the M-1 Carbine chambered in .22. I would love to have one for historical reasons. I also would like a Cowboy revolver, like those made by Ruger, Chiappa, etc., but chambered in .22. The draw back, as usual, is funding. I decided to pay the heat bill instead of purchasing the fun guns.:)

All of my guns serve a purpose. Including my "Crappy, marketing gimmick" Judge. :dunno:

I have no Safe queens because guns are for shooting. I shoot some more than others but they all get shot.

Ok, maybe my Mosin is a toy but its still has a purpose!

I use my 1943 Inland M1 carbine to remember my WWll veteran father and honor his service sometimes at the range. My wife does the same thing to honor her fathers service with a 1943 Remington Rand built 1911.
Does that count as a "purpose"? :dunno:

Most of the guns I have I use for something. But I did buy one a few years ago because I had always wanted one. I have never shot it but it is something that I always wanted so I guess if you want it go for it.

Own quite a few. All serve a purpose. The fun[play] gun would have to be my AMT lightening 22, for targrt shooting. a 10/22 clone but i think it's made better!:ar15:
