I see your points but unfortunately in this situation it would be more likely that the drug/crime lords down there would either steal or buy them back from the people or persuade them to join them. The criminals are the only ones with any real power down there, not the government. And the people know it. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way against people having firearms to defend themselves. Its just that things are so bad in most parts of that country it could be more of a liability to be a known threat. If an honest man does have a gun in Mexico, he better not let anybody know it unless he has no other choice.

Looking at the pictures, you see a lot of military type guns. There are many in the upper income gun owners that really do not care about stamped sheet metal military bang sticks. They feel their custom engraved Perazzi and one off custom built safari rifles will be exempt because at $25,000 they are above confiscation. I keep trying to tell them those who want to destroy all guns cannot tell the difference between a $62.95 Jimanez and a $150,000 Purdy.
