Obey tyranny and you won't have a problem?

    Point taken.
If that's the point you want to derive.

There were many choices available to this guy. Go to the code enforcement section and demand a hearing to assert his property rights. Strike a blow for liberty. Write an op-ed piece in the local paper, or a manifesto. Hold demonstrations against the 'man'. Stage political theatre. Wear a sandwich board with mean statements against the code authorities. Call Jesse Jackson.

Instead he blew off the whole thing. He's not a martyr, he's just a scoff-law.

"Bum" is right. He just strengthened the system you're railing against.

    possibly even getting an exemption.

If you subscribe to Kirk Freeman's logic, how can there be an exemption from a guy who is using a "weapon" against all of his neighbors?

I can't imagine that people of that mindset giving any breaks to this homeowner; who in their minds is attacking them, violating their rights, robbing them, punching them in their noses, endangering their safety, destroying their communes, etc.

You get a waiver from the code enforcement/city engineer once you explain what is going on when you are in the process of improving your property.

I did it for my curbs and sidewalks when I had them re-done a few years ago.

Ummm, it's just an ordinance, not a diamond heist.

It sounded like a financial problem. But anyways, screw that bum for not having $11,000.

I have told you over and over that there is no protection against what you consider ugly houses or ugly people. Asking me multiple times does not change the answer.

Forget it Kirk, he has selective line and letter reading disorder that prevents him from completing the thought process in a proper rational way.

It can't be fixed with certain people because they're against all drugs and vaccines that could bring this dangerous and misleading disease into submission. Therefor they'll go throughout life beating their head against the wall crying and shouting wolf (or some other misdirected headline) until people no longer take anything serious on what is said by them.

It usually ends up with them being bitter and lashing out because they no longer get the attention they seek from the over sensationalizing and misleading info that is spewed. It a sad thing, I hear they fall asleep each night muttering in their dreams "It's for the children" or some other incoherent mumbo jumbo.:D

Here's the whole thing in a nutshell.

He received in warning in 2007, but how long before
    that was it in disrepair.

News video in the interview still shows it incomplete,
even shows a new patio door with a sticker still on it.

He screwed up, he was given plenty of time, ignored it.

He was then given 6 more months to finish and report back.

    He failed on both accounts.

He assumed it was complete to his liking, not to code.
He then did not report back as ordered.

He then was arrested on a bench warrant for "Failure to Appear"

Faber failed, just like this thread and it's misleading title.

I'm outa this thread I'm tired of this :poop: and of the :poop: being spewed
that trying to be spun to support a couple peoples thought process.

Answering a philosophical question with a legal code is completely irrelevant to this discussion

No it isn't. It is bringing the real world into the world of L. Neil Smith novels and other libertarian narsassistic nonsense.

If you own property, then you have a duty not to allow your property to harm others. Sitting on the couch and watching Firefly while your house rots around your ears harms others.

Code enforcement, as long as the ordinances are crafted to establish floors, protects the property rights of your neighbors and others.

Sloth is not a philosophy. Harming others is not a philosophy. These are conditions that are to be addressed by society. This is why we have due process of law and why we have code enforcement, to deal with the a-holes.

This is not an example of the police driving a tank into someone's house for having a crap shack. He had plenty of time, he had notice, he had opportunity to be heard.

Certain people do not like it because it is an example of someone failing in their duty to others and in the world of the 8th grader, who owes no duty to anyone, especially mom when she tells me to clean up my room, this is an injustice. It's not an injustice, it is the rule of law, not of man.

    What a load of crap.

I don't have a 'duty' to protect the property value of my neighbors, nor do I feel they have a 'duty' to do the same for me. Who decided that we all have this duty? Sounds like a bunch of collectivist nonsense.

Certain people don't like this, because while they pretend to espouse liberty, the only freedoms they actually believe in are the ones that benefit them personally. Stay out of my basement, my gun collection is no concern of yours. Confederate flag on my car? First amendment, punk. No, you can't search my vehicle. I don't care if it's for the benefit of the collective, I have rights.

Oh, also, I would like my neighbor thrown in jail. His grass is too long to suit me.

The hypocrisy runs deep. We will never be rid of the nanny state as long as so-called conservatives are supporting just as much government control over our property as liberals.

You noticed that nobody has yet to address the ammo stash issue?

Should neighbors have a right to dictate how much ammo and powder you have in your house? Million rounds of ammo found at CA house - USATODAY.com

We all rail about the nanny state nonstop.

But are we angry that we live in a nanny state? I don't think so.

I think we are angry because we didn't get to pick the nanny.

Those who do not subscribe to Kirk Freeman's logic do so at their own peril. He is invariably right.

Or vote with your vote, get involved in reforming the process, and quitcher*****in. It's not like the Emperor of Washington appoints these people to subjugate the peasants.

    I did notice. It's become a pattern.

You need to stop it with the absurd hypotheticals before I put you on my ignore list.

I don't get it. That was neither absurd nor hypothetical. It was a report of an event which actually happened, and does represent a potential threat to our rights as spun by the lamestream media.

So you don't agree with your neighbors dictating your ammo supply which could pose a real danger where houses are packed like sardines but siding on a house requires government force?

Sorry, I meant that to be sarcasm. I was put on an ignore list earlier for doing the same thing :):
