    Caleb -

I won't go into details in a public forum. But in our case, I certainly believe that the Protective Order was warranted. And it was received.

If you ever want to compare notes, (goes for anyone out there) PM me and I'll be glad to discuss in more detail.

Bottom line - even though you feel helpless in many ways. You are NOT ALONE. There's a LOT of people out here who've had to deal with this lunacy. It's unfortunate that there's that much of it happening - but at least it helps to know that others are out there.

I think in the OP's case with the creeper, a no-contact should be easily obtained over the protective order.

I think the best course of action is to wait for summer semester to start and see if things start to happen again. If so, I will be at the sheriff's department as soon as I can and the paper trail will really start. I'm going to start documenting things again and make it obvious that's what I'm doing. If nothing happens, then well, nothing happens, but I'll still be on guard.

I need to make sure that this is something that would be classified as stalking, because without him threatening my physically or along those lines my hands are tied. Plus, I still need to figure out how the campus would play into this seeing as we'd always be withing walking distance, (two buildings and a sidewalk/small parking lot) of one another.

I do agree with Caleb, that in the absence of threats, No-Contact is more likely the right way to go. That said, I'd take it to the Sheriff's Office (or LEO's) in the area, and get their opinion.

One of the other lesson I've learned is that EVERYONE including LEO's have an agenda. This includes School Admin, and heck even me. The ONLY person who knows the right thing to do is YOU. Get advice from everywhere, then LISTEN to your instincts. I'd get opinions from the LEO's as to what would work. Get opinions from the school, and from everywhere. Then follow what your instincts tell you.

I keep thinking I'd have to go through the University, because that's where all contact has originated. But then again I could just talk to LMPD... I need to find out again. :/

I think it will come down to the factor of if he is still on campus, if not, there's nothing I could do... at least, I don't think I could. :dunno:

Since OJ and a few other cases ... Police are taking Stalking seriously

I would think a University would have a pamphlet on it

    Indiana ... Indiana Code 35-45-10

    and http://www.violenceresource.org/statute.pdf

Stalking. I.C. 35-45-10-5. The crime of Stalking is defined by law as any
repeated or continuing harassment causing the victim to feel terrorized,
frightened, intimidated, or threatened, and is a Class D felony.

Does anyone think it would be wise to continue to OC on lunch? My gut tells me no, because in ~3 weeks I'll have my license and I can wait until then, especially if it seems smarter .... group thoughts?

Don't let other people's reactions determine how you exercise your rights. That said if you continue to carpool with your friends you also need to respect their wishes while you are dependant on them for transportation.

You carry to protect your life. Since OC is your only legal option, at this time, your choices are to stop carrying until your license arrives, CC illegally, or continue OCing as before. The approval of these emasculated buffoons is not worth your safety or freedom. Continue to carry as before.

Seeing as I'm not cool with the illegal side, you know, I want my license and all... my options are to carry anyways, or just not. That, or just not go to lunch with them... which is always an option because I tend to hate listening to what they talk about. Heh.

The approval of these emasculated buffoons is not worth your safety or freedom. Continue to carry as before.
I suggest saying that to their faces.

    :+1: for style points.

Also: Found the KRS 237.106 pointing to me being legally allowed to carry on 'company property'. I really hope that one doesn't turn around and smack me, but you know, at least I have the law on my side.

I really think you should've asked before OC'ing in their car. I guess you know who your real friends are now, huh? You have to expect some comments when you OC though.

That's why I carry concealed always. You don't have to ask permission if they don't know, and you have a tactical advantage in that perps don't know you have the ability to terminate them.

In Indiana companies cannot restrict you from having a gun locked in your car, no matter what their policies are/were. I don't know about KY.
EDIT: It appears KY has the same law as IN.
“BRING YOUR GUN TO WORK†LAWS & THEIR EFFECT ON EMPLOYERS « HRM PARTNERS,INC.

I don't care what state people live in, or what job, I recommend keeping a gun locked in your car to protect yourself when traveling to and from work. No one needs to know.

Does this apply to airport property as well?

Catielynnb, you continue to OC @ lunch. Do not let them intimidate you and remind them that you could very well be the difference between their life and death, and be sure to use good examples to support yourself.

Also, if you ever get up here to Indy, I'm sure there's more than a few guys/girls up here willing to have lunch with you that won't have a problem with you packing. :ingo:

Let me just say: there is SO MUCH material for de-emasculating these d-bags.

Do it, and report back here so we can all chuckle along with you :)

Why would she want to make them feel more like a man? :)

Considering I don't have the best temper when people constantly pick at my opinions and beliefs, it will NOT be in my best interest to continue to OC with these people.

However, I had two wonderful experiences today.

It still doesn't change how I feel about carrying around such hateful men... it's frustrating.

Well we don't care to change your opinion about carrying around THEM; you're on the right track there. Bugger them, they're not worth your time.

However, we are glad you had wonderful experiences and we hope that you'll continue to have many more. You're a strong, independent woman; you do what you want. :)

I agree. I was poking henktermaat for saying "de-emasculating", which if it were a word would mean the opposite of emasculating.

You know if some crazy were to rob the place while y'all were on lunch and you have to defend yourself the song and dance would have been different. Don't worry with those retards just keep carrying one day God forbid you may be happy you did. I for one can tell you having a snub nosed 38 put in your side and feeling the hammer go back will make you crap your pants and never want to be unprepared again.
