Why do I get the feeling that IGO, just as it stands right now, is a better militia than ANY of these presumably organized groups?

Or ALL of them, for that matter.

If you need to raid homes for food, that's what IL is for :):
Yeah, the guy lost a few points with that post. Kind of makes you wonder about the mental thought process going on that you would openly post that while trying to get recruits. Of course we have had a couple members say they would happily start killing people when the SHTF to get additional weapons. They may feel at home with this group.

Plus, he hasn't been back to try to defend anything that has been questioned.

And those statements have made me stray away from the idea. I feel safer relying on myself and other INGO members (not raiding militia members) when TSHTF. Or just move to Colorado and live in the mountains away from everybody and defend my mountain peak the best I can...But it is colder there.

Just get to know your neighbors. For those of us out here in rural America that is going to be a key part of security. I alone can not defend all have, but WE together can defend all WE have.

I will say this about raiding parties: it will happen. Remember that it happened in Katrina and at least one man kept his generator from a raiding party of 5 (armed with machetes) only due to his 1911.

In Argentina (an extended SHTF even if not a full Jericho), those raiding parties became large enough to overwhelm farmers who were well armed (attacks came in large, well armed groups of many vehicles).

What does this mean? It means that if you are going to be remote, even just on a farm, you need better protection than a 5 person family can provide. Dog? In Argentina the precursor to attacks was the poisoning of the guard dogs and the assault would come before new guard dogs could be procured. And what happened to the farmers was so bad that many in the crime ridden cities felt lucky.

So, to the rural types: you will not be able to stand without help. To the evacuees: if you are able, willing, and connected there may be a place for you as a security guard/force. For the raiders: the poorly defended farms will fall fast, but the well protected ones will be your graveyard.

If the S truly HTF then our only protection will be each other in groups. So, if you have not one in mind already, think about it now. And if your is in Colorado, think about a backup one in case you cannot get there or it is gone.

And if nothing more, train now. Why? Because training, learning, skills all cannot be taken from you. And they are also very important to a new employer - even if he is an under-protected farmer.

    :twocents:

P.S. Oh, and if the SHTF involves Zombies - we will all become raiders of one kind or another...

He has been a member since september 2008 and has 10 post. I joined INGO about the same time, you want trust, allies, or whatever how about contributing to the forum. I was not surprized by his answer just baffled why he would admit that on this forum. His 8 man militia, now that is something I would pay to see in action.:D

Don't forget the Ice Cream if it wasn't for that us fat guys wouldn't get any exercise at all!!!

Speaking of which (you guys get ready to be really jealous), at a local discount grocery place that we go to on occasion, they had a very large (I think they call it $#10) can of Hershey's fudge. It filled like 6 tupperware containers... man talk about heaven. Heat it in the bowl in a microwave until it boils, then add the ice cream to it...she does love me. Of course then the blood sugar goes up along with the blood pressure. But it was good going down.

Well I think you learned a lot about the Militia types. I truly believe that some have all the good intentions in the world to do good and to defend this state; the problems arises in that it is not a formal organization with the standards of behavior and traditions that help form a true organization. In a sense the "Weight of History" My Army Unit had an historian that was a WWII Vet who servers in the unit during the great war. You knew the units history and you met the men that help make that history. I was damn proud when I could contribute to that history after Desert Storm.

SHTF - Be the natural leader (you don't need uniforms or titles). Your neighbors will see that you know your stuff and come to you for suggestions on defending the neighborhood. And you all will have a concert goal that is common to all - Protect love ones and home. That will be you standard bearer. The Cream always raises to the top.

Gentlemen, after reading your comments, doing a lot of soul searching and research I admit my answer on taking from the civilian populace is wrong regardless of the situation. Theft is theft and there is no exception for anyone at anytime. If the times get that dire, everyone will be rationing to make their stocks last as long as possible. A liberating force cannot at the same time be an oppressor.

    Thank you for your honesty.
