So a thought crossed my mind last week... what if some of the anti-gun whacko's who are so passionate about their cause "enlisted" crazies, those with suicidal or homocidal tendancies to commit the sort of public gun crimes that help them slowly get more and more leverage to take away our right to arm ourselves?

These sort of crimes certainly also happen on their own, but sprinkle in a handful of public shootings like the one in Colorado (or the one today at a mall in Portland) and they get more and more media airtime and more and more of the uniformed public's support. I can pretty easily see that some of the extremely radical liberals could rationalize a few innocent lives lost for the greater cause of national gun bans/control... Australians lost their rights after a single, high profile mass public shooting.

Just a thought, interested to see what everyone else thinks.

It is part of the deinstitutionalization of the mentall ill which is decades long.

Talk to the cops here about the EDPs that they must deal with every day . . . and that's just on INGO.

Hmm there wouldn't be that many people capable of doing such things in the first place.
Remember not many folk could rationalize away the lives of innocent people and from that small group you have to have a few members of them on the radical left which is a fairly small group in and of itself. So that's two fields you have. Field 1 someone capable of the rationalization and field 2 someone on the radical left. You have to find the small group of people who are in both fields and who have access to the sort of funds/people required in order to carry it out.

If someone was planning this there would be multiple layers between them and the shooter because they don't want to be connected which means you have additional expenses and have to find a higher amount of people who fit all the fields.

Honestly black propaganda is much more effective but mass shootings of this sort would be all about shock and show while exploiting a knee jerk reaction of the population/politicians who would be afraid to defend gun rights in case they are percieved as condoning or at the very least turning a blind eye to the incident.

Black propaganda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sources: I'm politically active and have been for a few years now. I know how political folk view things.

Yes there are! Just fed them a steady diet of nihilism and chaos and you have a sink estate on steroids.

They are there in every SES but you can see how the Beast is built:

    Not necessarily.
Look at me for instance. I grew up surrounded by drugs violence and all sorts of criminal activities whilst living with no money. I remember my mum going without food or new clothes in order to keep me and my brother fed and warm.

I grew up in a slum frankly and I'm not like that. People are a product of their choices and actions not their environment.

:yesway: Environment, while not completely without impact, is a setting. It is action that yields results.

I had raised this question some time back and the responses ran the gamut from "what are you. . . some kind of nut?" To the full blown tinfoil conspiracy theorists. One of the issues I brought forth was the abortion clinic bombers. They were willing to kill innocent people to further their cause so I really don't think it's TOO much of a stretch to think that some of these cowards that shoot up theaters and food courts could themselves be staunch anti-gunners. I realize this hasn't been proven out in any of the mass shooting cases that I'm aware of but we might all be surprised to know what a truly sick mind is capable of.

Maybe some of those slasher/action movies aren't that far off?

This is almost a textbook definition of paranoia - to the point when it's almost scary.

I'll clarify and explain. If you are willing to consider such a scenario plausible then you might see a proponent of gun control not just as an ideological enemy, but as a potential, direct, physical threat to yourself or others.

You enter muddy waters when you start ascribing motives to others. Muddy waters tread my the likes of Rambone.

False flags do happen from time to time, but I honestly do not think there will be a "gun grab" in the near future. I think there are enough pro gun dem's and rep's to stave off another 2nd amendment attack.

Abortion bombers are quite open about their actions and don't make any attempt whatsoever to hide their motive. In fact, quite the opposite.

    I do.

Why shoot up a theater/school/church and why not a gun club? I've yet to hear any of the infamous three named villains come forth and proclaim their hoplophobia.

What you do is other people, far removed, saying, "See! That's why we need gun control!"

Now unless you have photos of Jared Lee Loughner and Paul Helmke meeting prior to the shooting, I'll continue to label this conspiracy thinking.

The "gun grab" is another thread.

Perhaps you'd like to offer some proof or documented evidence for you assertion concerning false flags?

The old joke is "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you." Worst part is it's not a joke but completely true... just not always (usually?) applicable.

    Is his suggestion possible? Sure.
    Is it plausible? Also, yes.
Is it likely? I can't say.

I can say there's not much I'd put past a group of people who've been shown to not have much in the way of integrity, who are willing to "manipulate data" and even to outright lie on a regular basis, and who find themselves or those ascribing to their beliefs in positions of power.

There are plenty out there who still think that Vince Foster was not a suicide, and have some pretty believable reasons to have come to that conclusion. If murder is not "off the table", is it such a stretch to think that giving someone who wants to kill himself in a "blaze of glory" a way to do so would be acceptable?

And now a shooting at a Connecticut elementary school. It's like the ante is being upped with each successive one of these things. Makes it hard not to strap on the tinfoil hat.
