Congrats, be ready for the countless newsletters asking for money. The NRA is not what it use to be. After my membership is up I will not renew.

    Go ahead, prove me wrong.

If you are wrong, we all lose. Your congressman sees numbers at times like these. The first AWB cost at least 29 congressmen their jobs. Just recently cost Luger his job. The NRA does not forget.

Good decision. I actually enjoy being a member. I like the fact that they keep members in the loop as to what the anti-gunners are up to. Some will tell you differently but that is their opinion which they have a right to express, until the Bill Of Rights is eliminated.

Well if you want to keep your guns dropping your membership would be the worst mistake of your life. You can go to their website and opt out of the mail. I don't mind looking at it as some contains valuable information. The NRA is THE most valuable resource we as gun owners have to help keep the politicians in line.

I just joined GOA (already belong to NRA). I was impressed by Pratt's handling of Priss Morgan. Believe I also read GOA had a hand in the recent Ill concealed carry case. It's only $20. The lifetime membership is a little salty, tho....$500!!!!

Next up. Writing letters to my reps.

ps If you haven't, go to wh petition....the antiz are kickin our butts!!!

And I feel pretty good about it! Just wanted to share!

    Nice! Good for you. :yesway:

I've been a member since I was 18, and I became a life member about four years ago.

I also added my wife as an associate last summer when we went to the NRA convention in St. Louis. I'll make her a life member eventually. I also put her through an NRA safety course when we were married. When were dating, when she heard that I owned guns she thought I was crazy, and now she owns guns too! :)

I was a member for over 30 years. I'm not this year. I don't think the NRA CEO deserves one million a year plus bonuses. NRA is a not for profit, so why so much for one person?

Alright...to the OP, congrats. Thanks for jumping on board!

To the two gentlemen who felt the need to jump in this thread to bash the NRA....shut up.

I mean seriously, you can't afford to drop $10 bucks a year? Really? I mean...you're on here, so by default you fall into one of a two categories..

a.) You own a computer..and thus can afford to give up $10.
b.) You don't own a computer, but are gainfully employed somewhere that does...and thus, can afford to give up $10.

I don't care what the CEO makes, or what kind of dog he owns, or the laundry list of 'issues' you have with the NRA. Stow it. If there ever was a time to zip your lips, now is it.

Numbers matter. NRA's got numbers. Get over it, zip your lips, and get on board.

Alright...I'm done ranting. People like that just **** me off.

I'm basing my decision to renew on their press conference Friday when they announce their "meaningful contribution" to make sure this never happens again. I can't imagine what "meaningful contribution" could possibly mean in the given context that doesn't amount to some capitulation.
