The NRA has clearly evolved over the years. Today they are a lobbying, not-for-profit corporation. They need to recruit good talented people for their cause, which for now is still my cause and many NRA member like me. That costs a lot of money. If you want the best, you have to be willing to pay for the best.

I still consider the NRA the leader in protecting my gun ownership rights. I hope there will be many more organizations, just like our Indiana Gun Owners Forum. We're inb for a long fight. This isn't the time to abandon the NRA.

I was a member for over 30 years. I'm not this year. I don't think the NRA CEO deserves one million a year plus bonuses. NRA is a not for profit, so why so much for one person?

The biggest problem with non-profits is that many don't operate like a business. Many non-profit boards, chairman and other leaders don't want to pay for staff and think everything should get done by volunteers. I'm not putting down volunteers as their time and financial support are certainly needed, but when it comes down to it, whatever it is, it's not a volunteer's job to get the job done. They won't donate 50-60 hours a week, 48 weeks a year.

Due to how many non-profits think of paid staff, they typically don't pay for talent and therefore they don't attract talent. As far as the NRA, I'll have to take your word on that figure, and if it's true, then looking at any similar size business, I would assume that is what it takes to hire a real leader. Poor leaders attack poor employees and they all make bad decisions and waste money.

Non-profits are a businesses! Many are in the business of membership. The NRA has it's duty to look out for the members' interests and concerns as we pool our money together for our common cause. If the NRA leadership fails us, then they will go out of business as many other membership organizations are headed.

(If you're asking, I work for a large non-profit.) :draw:

I just joined GOA (already belong to NRA). I was impressed by Pratt's handling of Priss Morgan. Believe I also read GOA had a hand in the recent Ill concealed carry case. It's only $20. The lifetime membership is a little salty, tho....$500!!!!

Next up. Writing letters to my reps.

ps If you haven't, go to wh petition....the antiz are kickin our butts!!!

I too just joined today! I figured since I just bought my first gun, I might as well support the organization that will help me keep it.

I also just joined today and pretty pumped up about it. Hopefully they can do something about all this banning the assault rifle talk and move forward

I wish I had come up with this but no

**Time to take the gloves off or get ready to close the doors forever. Tomorrow's NRA news conference should hopefully have them coming out swinging, starting with TJ's quote that is as applicable today as it was in his day, "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Screw hunting as "our reason" to uphold the 2A. I read an article yesterday that gave examples of various worldwide government "gun control" measures over the last 100 years. The cost to the defenseless was roughly 56 MILLION DEATHS. We are facing government tyranny right now. Some nut killing kids is tragic but it is not a gun problem, it is a security problem. Mental health is unpredictable and will be for our lifetimes. Secure the f#*king facilities where we have our most valuable assets, our children. DO IT NOW. No political BS, just do it.

The NRA either steps up wearing their Big Boy pants or they will have no members this time next week. The POS we have as POTUS can attempt to enact whatever measures his socialist/communist agenda dictates. The libs may buy into it. The rest of the country is buying up every "assault weapon" they can get their hands on. There is great hilarity in the fact that the POS touting gun control has sold every available "black rifle" and hi-cap mag in the U.S. right now, as well as most of the available ammo.

The POS and his ilk want to make many millions of law-abiding citizens into criminals with the swipe of a pen. Enforcement of such BS legislation may prove problematic. The Japs understood the task of a US invasion and the impossibility of disarming our populace. "Kill all they send and they will stop coming." The Japanese understood the futility.

We are all Americans though I wouldn't bother to help quite a few of them. The NRA needs to make sure the message to the POS is clear: We may currently share US citizenship but his attempting to eliminate the God-given rights of millions and millions of his well-armed adversaries is a scary proposition and he better understand that fact before he crosses a line that could change history.

The NRA is either the messenger tomorrow or it becomes extinct very soon.

    Sorry for the rant...**

    Thanks for looking !

If we didn't have the NRA, we wouldn't be enjoying the freedom we have now. They are a powerful organization and can stand up to such folks as billionaire Bloomberg, Soros, oh yeah, Mr Wonderful Prez O and Joe. I'm counting on VP Mr. LaPierre and President Mr. Keene to rally one hell of a fight in the months to come. This battle is going to be tough. Your membership counts. Yes they want some monies, which most of us don't really have to donate now that our taxes are going up..sorry, tangent. It's going to take every last one of us, gun owners to make sure our rights, respectively aren't infringed.

I let mine laps about a yr ago and just rejoined 3 weeks before everything went to hell. Saw an article last night about 8,000 new people joining the NRA a day now. Of course if ALL these people and gun owners joined long ago this wouldn't be a possibility now I'm guessing.
