Do you believe that people who take part in the recent and upcoming Second Amendment rallies are hurting the cause more than help? Would you rather not be associated with the cause because of the attendees or do not believe the effort is justified at this point? I just want to ask this question because of the perception I gather from some members, although I may be totally wrong.

I'm REALLY not posting this to be a huge crap throwing contest, but to see what people think. So, comments are not necessary if you simply want to take the poll. If you support the cause, you really don't have to post. I definitely realize some people have work, transportation and other issues and they are not the one's I'm asking; just those who do not support the very thought of the effort.

If you cannot attend because of work commitments or other obligations, this thread is not for you. If you are opposed to attending this kind of event because of ANY of the reasons listed in the poll, please vote and respond. I am very interested in reading what you have to say.

Clever Que. I see through you already. Each reader will disagree with all options, notice there is no option of "I don't go because I'm too busy with life", then realize there is no valid excuse. I have fallen for your trap and have no valid execuse or reason for not showing up. Damn good post sir, well played. :)

No, honestly, although I'm known to pull a fast one sometimes, that was not my intent this time. I know people have to work and other matters they don't care to share with the public, but that doesn't mean they are not supportive. I'm only asking those who just do not see any good reason for these kinds of efforts; why do they feel like that?

I have never been to one. Actually, I've never attended any type of rally before.

I don't see how a 2A rally could hurt anything. I think not having them could hurt more than having one...

I'm not voting in the poll because MY reasons are not mentioned in it.
I'm still unsure if I can make it or not.

It would be nice if you had a section for those of us who wish they could attend but have obligations that cannot be ignored. I think the rallies are a very good thing as long as the people attending behave in a professional and responsible manner.

Have been to several rallies in my life time and protest...I think there needs to be a presence that says I am willing to stand up for what I believe in. In other words, put up or shut up!

I can understand why there isn't that option on there. If there was the option of "I want to, but can't due to other comitments", then people would opt for that so they don't give the appearance that they are "Anti-Rally" or "Anti-2A".

With the given options, people are likely to be more honest in their response as there is no way to take the easy way out.

I too fall in the catagory of "Not enough time in the day", unfortunately. But I am hoping to carve out some time this Saturday to make the trip up to Indy. There are a lot of other ways we can show support as well, so keep up that letter writing and keep contact with your reps, as well as spreading the truth.

I think rallies are a great way of getting the word out and attacting attention from the media.

I would really like to see more organization. Would be wonderful if we could invite one, two, or half-dozen of our pro-2A senators and state reps like Donnelly, Coats, Rokita, etc, and have them address the people attending the rally. That would certainly attract even more media attention. I am not sure how to go about doing that, but maybe one of our lawyer members would be more familiar with how to get some invitations out to our Senators and State Reps.

I'm not talking about people with obligations, just those who are opposed for some reason. Lack of organization may be a major concern for others and that, along with the reasons I have listed, are legitimate concerns.

I'm not trying to get anyone tarred and feathered.

The only reasons I wouldn't attend would be time, distance, or the organizers were doing something irresponsible, or unhelpful for the cause. So, I didn't vote.

Not a lawyer....but call their office and ask them...make sure you get it in writing they will be there and call a week before the event make sure they are coming and then send out a press release to all the major news outlet in the area....this one is most likely to late.

I shook your hand at the Jan 19th rally at the capitol Que. I had previously committed to the Feb 8th rally - but due to running low on leave time and sick "points" --making another weekend rally would jeopardize my employment.

I would venture to say a lot of gun folks are blue collar and weekends aren't always off for that crowd. That may lead to a lack of turnout. Of course the temperature could be another factor. I say give a weekday rally a try during the warmer months!

Just to clarify.....Feb 8th is on a weekday.

I think that, provided there is a reasonably sized turnout, it clearly demonstrates to those who are "on the fence" on the issue that the so called "majority of gun owners" do NOT agree with the proposed "solutions" (AKA infringements)
