So...my younger brother and three friends work and go to school there. Sorry to **** all over your thoughts on the 2nd amendment with my worries about crazy aholes shooting up colleges. You're right, it's no problem, people just walk around schools with long guns. My brother and my buddy who informed me are both armed right now because of morons who want to copycat.

So, your worries trump my rights? Good to know.

Glad your brother and buddy are carrying, just in case.

I'm wondering, how exactly do you "lock down" a bunch of adults on a university campus? Threaten them with guns? That would be...ironic.

    Where's the bacon?
How does the fire Marshall allow people to be locked in a room with no exit?

My thought exactly, Doc. First place I'd be headed would be a door. Locked? OK. Fire door won't be. Sets off an alarm? Not my concern. I'm an adult and I won't be locked in somewhere to await someone else's choice to let me loose when I've done nothing wrong. Stay and play sitting duck if you want, I'm outta here.

I'm not worried that someone else has a long gun. I'm worried if I'm not allowed to have something with which to defend against it.

To the OPs, thanks for posting this up. Keep us in the loop, please!

    Blessings,
    Bill

Luckily, I'm not on campus right now, but I have a few friends who are. None of them seem overly worried, but they all said their buildings were on "lockdown." They all seemed okay with sitting and waiting. I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting there with no defense, but I wouldn't feel great walking around while a supposed long gun has been spotted. I'm guessing it was a false sighting...

    Listening to the scanner now.

My thoughts exactly lol I'd be heading to my vehicle for my own long gun. My buddy is with maintenance. He's gonna fill me in when he can.

    NOT surprised at all.

But the school will be praised because they were so proactive.

Just wanted to add this, as the thread brings it to mind:

My question: who called it in?

Was it a professor? Was this a political stunt?

It would not surprise me at all if this was a "political stunt"

    And that's why.

And yes, my cynicism is showing.

I do not want to see such reports turn into the boy who cried wolf, revisited.

What a way to cause a problem: get an accomplice to lock the school down and be waiting in a big auditorium with your prey locked in. Scary thought.
