Don't go outside your house. Stay inside where it's safe.
Turn the lights on outside, look thru your windows, as you call the police.

Be ready to defend your self if the BG tries to enter your home.

Yeah, how in the world was he carrying it? I wonder if it was a Glock or other striker fired handgun with no safety.

A gun is not a magic get-rid-of-bad-guy stick. I know accidents happen, but the more people purchase guns and simply load them and put their in the safe until they hear the bump in the night, the more accidents we are going to have.

I don't know if this person tripped or whatever, but even in that case, many of us know that he should not have had his finger on the trigger. You act out of your training and if you have had none or it's been years since you've had training, muscle memory is gone.

I would rather have him grab a baseball bat, sit in the closet and call the police.

What about a hammer fired gun with no safety? (Like a Sig)

Follow the 4 gun safety rules and you'll never need a safety on a firearm. It's called Good Gunhandling. It'll solve everything.

Good gunhandling. Yes. But as I pay attention to more accidental shootings I find more that involve striker fired guns with no safety - mainly Glocks. I would like to know what kind of gun that guy had. I bet it wasn't a revolver.

First off, Wtf, sounds more like a failed suicide and he was too shamed to admit it than any kind of accident I've ever heard of. Take the man away from his guns before he hurts someone. He not only failed multiple rules of gun safety he failed common sense, don't point it at yourself, particularly your heads.

Type of gun is not the issue, breaking the 4 rules is. Just holding any gun is not gonna go off if you follow the rules regardless of any mechanical safety.
