    I would assume that OP's dad was referring to the 'Geneva Convention' aka rules of war. Enlisted men are technically not allowed to USS anything but FMJ.

    (I'm pretty certain snipers and special forces do not give a crap about these rules, since they basically have a license to kill on order, and that they pick whatever clandestine weapons systems necessary to overwhelm the enemy).

    Oh, and I think the reason everyone specifies LTCH vs CCL, besides one is right, is that a Concealed Carry License implies you can only carry CONCEALED.

    Indiana doesn't care.
    Therefore it is a License To Carry Handgun. No mention of open or conceal. Just like the Indiana Code.

    Well, my concern that snave was out of state (Munice, possible Ball State student) since he he speaking furinner "CCL". A third way hollowpoints COULD be illegal is if the term of his out of state license specified "no hollow points" pursuant to Indiana Code 35-47-2-21(b).*

    *I am unaware of any state that has such a condition.

    So, Kirk, what does IC say about Nylon coated bullets, (if anything). Are Nyclads OK in Indiana or verbotten? I used to love Federal Nyclads, in .357. Unfortunately, now all they make is .38's.

    No, you cool.

    Let's look at the statute and the specific exemption for Nyclads.

    IC 35-47-5-11
    "Armor-piercing handgun ammunition" defined; related offenses
    Sec. 11. (a) As used in this section, "armor-piercing handgun ammunition" means a cartridge that:
    (1) can be fired in a handgun; and
    (2) will, upon firing, expel a projectile that has a metal core and an outer coating of plastic.
    (b) A person who knowingly or intentionally:
    (1) manufactures;
    (2) possesses;
    (3) transfers possession of; or
    (4) offers to transfer possession of;
    armor-piercing handgun ammunition commits a Class C felony.
    (c) This section does not apply to nylon coated ammunition, plastic shot capsules, or ammunition designed to be used in rifles or shotguns.
    (d) This section does not apply to a law enforcement officer who is acting in the course of the officer's official duties or to a person who manufactures or imports for sale or sells armor-piercing handgun ammunition to a law enforcement agency.
    As added by P.L.332-1983, SEC.1. Amended by P.L.327-1987, SEC.2.

    The statute was written against the KTW round which the criminal in the Congress (another damn riddle from Freeman making me Google stuff, it's an outrage) beat the drum about and only accomplished calling attention to the fact that coppers wear armor.

    There is lots of stuff sold that will defeat armor but armor can defeat all rounds (sort of tank/anti-tank thing going on). And Indiana's statute only impacts the tired old KTW round and not the super cool stuff that is available now but, as you know, the law is an a**.

    Just another question.. Can I carry my shotgun loaded in my truck, or my ar loaded?? Not that I do or would... Another friendly argument I've had with family and friends. I would love to know.

    I'm a noob to ingo but I shoot 2 times a week... I believe I shouldn't carry something I'm not proficient with....

    As a general rule, yes. Load up the entire gun collection and take them for a drive in the country. No statute against such a drive. In fact, more than several INGO members carry long guns in their personal vehicles.

    Remember, this depends on where you are: You could not go to school property so if you have to go see Suzy Q's play, park off school grounds.

    Also, depends on what you are doing, e.g. jacklighting deer (no go under most circumstances).

    Yes
    and Yes

    Some considerations though.
    Risk of theft when rifle/shotgun left in vehicle unattended.
    As for loaded, Kirk has a "my shotgun went off" story you may want to hear.
    But do what you want. You have to look at options, weigh them, listen to people, then DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU.
