Still gotta make a bracket for the T5 on the Hoyt. I ran Deltas on two of my other Blackwidows, with custom brackets (rear attach).
These old HS limb bolts had threaded holes in the ends so took the easy route.

I love the lever actions, takes me back to my childhood and watching "Rifleman" --- Saw a Remington cowboy copy at Highsmiths the other day in 30-06.... very nice, ($1,000)

Started getting my stuff together for my first season deer hunting. Picked this Mossberg 500A up for a steal at $150. Shoots great and the action is amazingly smooth. I am going to change a few things before the season starts though, I want to go with a cantilever rifled slug barrel and some sort of optic at least. Now time to decide on a stand!

Are you looking for a climber, hang on, or ladder stand? I use a summit viper and I love it.
Probably going to be a two person ladder stand, I'm a big guy and I don't want to test the weight limits of a climbing/hang on one.

I have a question (for next year)...

If I build a 300 blk pistol, is there a max barrel length by the DNR that will make it considered a rifle? The literature is a bit confusing to me.

summit has a climber called a goliath and I believe it has a 350-400 lb weight limit, also gander mt has in greenwood has rifled barrels for that gun. I have a rifled barrel on my mossy 20 gauge and its a nail driver. Wal mart also has a pretty decent shotgun/muzzleloader scope with light up reticles for around $60, I have 2 and am really happy with them

Thanks for the heads up, I will look in to that stand! Any idea of the name brand on that scope? I want to do a little research on it.

    ................

One can go through the BATF process and get a stamp, to convert a pistol to a rifle (with a barrel less than 16", SBR=short barreled rifle).
Indiana allows short barreled rifles for hunting.
But all rifles for deer hunting in the regular season must be of .35 caliber minimum.

If you build a pistol, you can convert it to "regular rifle" (16" or longer bbl) without any permits, but the barrel has to go on first and then the buttstock. It can't exist in SBR form during the build process, unless of course you have an SBR stamp.

I was wanting to take a .308 rifle and convert it to pistol. This would require an SBR stamp. SBR means the item can exist in both pistol or SBR form. Unfortunately the state says "once a rifle always a rifle" and I can't use a .308 SBR in handgun form, as it isn't .35 cal.

And I can't get an 80% receiver from Remington to build one up as a handgun only, or have the custom shop do it. So.............my project idea ground to a halt.

I understand that. This isn't an NFA question, I'm talking about building a virgin stripped lower into a pistol AR chambered in 300 blackout. Was wondering if there is a "max" overall length that by indiana DNR regs would make the "pistol" to be considered a rifle.

I know I can't make a 300 blk NFA rifle for deer hunting, as the bullet diameter doesn't fit the hunting regs (.356 min). IF I configure it as a "pistol" though, it's entirely legal. So even IF I have it as an NFA registered SBR, it's not legal to hunt with bc it's still a rifle. Clear as mud?

I'm wondering if I get a 16" blk upper if it'd be g2g for hunting so that I can swap the upper onto my 5.56 lower and use it as well in rifle configuration?

Sorry for the unclear question(s). :)

Remington XP-100? or Savage striker? Both are bolt action pistols from the factory.

I wanted a detachable magazine free floated barrel pump handgun............based on a 7600.
When I asked a few years back, Tanks said they were so swamped with shotgun stuff they couldn't build me one, and doubted they could get an 80% receiver from Big Green to do such a relatively easy project. Remington Custom Shop blew me a form letter that didn't even address what I was asking.

Well I drug my beater Blackwidow HS out, along side my trusty Hoyt Dorado...........the Dorado 53# the BW 59#.
Off and on I heeled the Hoyt, the BW while more stout, just felt better and the 3 in the bull at 20 yards sealed the deal.
Fast and quiet, the Hoyt of much lighter mass weight than my tank of a magnesium handled HS.
Grip removable, but never did get around to making a custom one so........bye bye Hoyt. The Pro fit grip of "high" is still too low for my tastes.

Yanked the K tech stabilizer off the Hoyt and stuck it on my Oneida.

Picked up the new PSE Brute X bow, don't know if I will be coomfortable with it enough this year, but I have the Benelli 20g with rifled slugs that is a proven killer and my CVA Accura for firearms season. Might be looking into a new ground blind. We will see. Between school full time, work full time and a new baby, I don't know how much I will get out.
