Baldguy that's a nice doe and a great story, Its odd that nobody knows where the tag came from. Also a great shot!

    Thanks!

Baldguy, Any chance you have anyone "farming/raising" deer in the area? It could possible be a farm raised deer that got out also. Lots of Amish raise deer up here in the north. Just an idea.

Our local C.O. called again today to tell me that there isn't anyone within the surrounding county's that has a licence to raise deer. So my best guess is that someone had a licence in the past and decided not to renew it and let the deer go. I saw her the morning before I took her and she didn't act like a tame deer. She came in about 60 yards out and knew something wasn't right. The wind was swirling and her nose went into the air for a minute or so before backing out the way she came. She never spooked, but you could tell she didn't like the situation.

I know of one person on the opposite side of the county that let his licence expire and let his does go free, but none were tagged.

went out this morning and didn't see any deer. About 10:30 a coyote came into the foodplot at 35 yards. I put a rage 2 blade right into the boiler room and he dropped 10 yards into the creek. about a minute later another coyote came in from the same direction and I was pulled back about to shoot another when he spotted his friend and took off up the hill. At least i got one of them off of our property, they kill way too many deer.

had a doe come within 25 yards this evening but was not able to setup in time. He entered a bean field at 35 yards and ate for about 15 min where i had a broadside shot the entire time. This early in the season though i'd rather not push 35 unless it's the bruiser i'm after. (the coyote i hit earlier today at 35 yards was playing in my mind the entire time, but i was able to wait). Heading out again in the morning..

I had two fawns, two does, one 4 point and a medium 8 point cruise around my area about 6:30pm, but never got closer than 40 yards through some thick cover. No shots, but a great time watching them mill around for about an hour.

Coyotes can fall under nuisance animals, that may be taken out of season, just an FYI.

Quit trolling and try reading up on the regulations, a coyote can be taken year round with written permission from the landowner and any nuisance animal can be taken if they are caught destroying property.

Reading your previous posts are like listening to Dianne Feinstein present the "facts" about guns and gun owners. Let's get the facts right before broadcasting them all over the interwebs.

That's a bold assumtion. And more than likely, libel. Here's a list of nuisance wildlife. The poster did not state if he reported in to the DNR.

    DNR: Nuisance Wildlife

And, guess what? I destroy all three of the species you mentioned year round as I am involved in agriculture. And was told to stop reporting them because it was unnecessary. So go hug a tree.

I kill Coyotes on our property any chance that i can get. They're a nuisance to our 80 acres of CRP property. I would never poach an animal and i'd appreciate if you educated yourself a little better before you jump to conclusion and post again. As a landowner you can take coyotes at any time of the year. You can also give permission for anyone to take a coyote on your property for nuisance purposes. Farmers all around our property are doing the same and have asked us to take any that we can for the same reasons.

"Landowners, or a person with written permission from a landowner, may take coyotes year-round on private property by snaring, trapping or shooting without a permit from the DNR. A landowner does not need a permit to take coyotes on his/her property by one of these methods, but a hunting or trapping license is required to hunt or trap coyotes on land other than your own"

Back to Whitetail Hunting: i went out this morning and saw 3 does. 2 of them are yearling fawns that i have been watching since Feb. and the other doe did not come in close enough. Goodluck to all those heading out tomorrow morning!

Saw two deer and a yote today.
One of the deer had a hole in it. I tracked and found it (nasty thicket). Hunting partner and I then drove around and found the guy at a neighboring house.
Turns out I know him! (nice guy too)
Pretty good way to start the season :)
I'm off to bed, no sleep hunting sucks.

Just got in my stand. Passed a decent scrap. This is the first year not seeing a rub on the property
hope to just see some deer.

now it is 9:15 and I have not seen a thing

now 9:35 and saw my first deer. It was too far away and moving too quickly to tell if it was a buck or a doe.

Except when they aren't. You've been provided with the information to educate yourself but are either too lazy or simply unwilling to do so. Grow up or go away.

Ignorance is bliss... If killing nuisance animals that are costing me money everyday on my own property is poaching, then I must be a poacher. Is there a cat or random dog season? I kill those ALL THE TIME!

Rabbit could be taken on DNR property on the first, coyote can be taken anytime if they are destroying property/livestock.

Might want to read the regs before preaching to us...I don't think anyone has ever been prosecuted for poaching a coyote. Prove me wrong :)

Back in the stand for the evening.

I noticed that there are very little acorns dropping and the oaks do not seem to have any still attached. I am assuming that this is due to the 2 previous years of drought

by the way, landowner told me to shoot any coyotes that come through as they have several outdoor cats as pets. Too bad in the 6 years of hunting here, I never saw or heard one. I did get one picture of one on one oft trail cameras.

You can also give permission for anyone to take a coyote on your property for nuisance purposes.

It doesn't even have to be for nuisance purposes. A landowner can give you year-round coyote killing privileges just because they hate them. :rockwoot:

I have WRITTEN permission (as required) for properties that I hunt on that state that I may kill any coyote on sight at any time.
