They aren't the reason we can't have nice things. The whining crybaby panzies who call the cops on them are the reason we can't have nice things. The whining crybaby panzies who vote for anti-gun legislators who disregard the Constitution and Bill of Rights are why we can't have nice things.

I don't blame the type of folks in your picture.

Maybe you do, based on your prior post on this topic:

It doesn't matter who's "fault it is." The fact is those people exist and we as gun owners have to be aware of that. There's little we can do about that. When you put your rights in the spotlight more than it has to be and someone doesn't like it, you are bound to force a debate on what should be considered acceptable. It's only a gamble on whether or not you win this debate. That said, the fact that it's "your right" doesn't mean it's appropriate for everyone at all times, especially when your actions could result in further infringement on rights which are not JUST yours, but ALL of ours. There is an element of social responsibility within everything you do or don't do. Gun owners in general need to be aware of this concept. We are more often then not, our own worst enemy.

As to the OP, if he expects unusal circumstances which would warrant the need of a rifle, then carry what is needed. Even then, expect additional attention and scrutiny from locals including LEOs. Hence, if it is NOT needed at that time, then don't carry it.

If I were in a coffee shop and somebody came walking in with what looks to be a loaded AR at the low ready....im hittin the road, I can understand why those who don't know about much guns might be concerned. Starbucks was cool with the whole gun thing, then some folks took it too far

I'm in CO and I've carried mine before. I've carried it in the front seat of the car quite often and will carry on the bike when I get a decent sling.

RIGHTS are not up for debate. If someone wants to carry a rifle AS IS HIS RIGHT more power to them. I'm not saying I wouldn't pay them extra scrutiny but I also won't get my shorts in a bunch panicking over it.

If our legislators paid more heed to the Constitution this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion. Ultimately it's the fault of those who sit in the halls of power and give each other harumphs and ignore everything that made this country what it was.

Someone needs to call up Oblama to inform him that there's no further need to oppress or repress us; that some gun-owners will do it themselves.

The Westboro freaks are within their 1st amendment rights to be a-holes. Just because you have the right to do something doesn't make it productive or useful thing to do.

I learned on INGO that the only way to demonstrate that you are a free man is to open carry an AR. I'm still trying to figure out why I need to demonstrate that I am free man rather than just being one.

Oh yeah, if I just live as a free man, no one will stare at me and think "He is so tacticool. I want to be just like him."

In related news, I also learned on INGO that if I don't stand on a busy street corner yelling "F-U", I have no respect for the freedom of speech and am eroding our liberty.

They are indeed up for debate BECAUSE we have people that don't believe in the same philosophies. That's part of the conundrum of being a "cultural melting pot." Otherwise, we would not have little pink cards we must carry everywhere and it wouldn't cost me an additional $200 for specific types of weapons. So, whether you wish to believe it or not, they ARE up for debate.

I'm not saying it's right or that I in any way agree with it, it's just fact. There are people who don't agree with your rights. They push to eliminate them through debate. Unfortunately, as we have seen numerous times they are some times able to misconstrue things to perpetuate their agenda of altering these rights.

As far as legislators are concerned, I agree. If I was in such a position I would throw out any attempt to alter the rights identified in our various founding documents but that is another issue entirely. The other side of the fence has just as much say as anyone else....sadly.

I would suspect that if we have a rash of people open carrying ARs, the state legislature will quickly have a bill presented to stop it from occurring.

We know they do this. They like to do this. They do this alarmingly frequently. The question is, when they push, are we going to push back? OCing a handgun is an appropriate way to push back against panty waists pushing to ban handguns. OCing an AR is an appropriate way to push back against panty waists pushing to ban OCing handguns. When we stop pushing back against those who push to ban our Constitutional rights, the panty waists win.

If you feel it will make you happy then go for it. It's your natural right as a man. However be aware of the consequences because of the hyped up fearful world we live in.
you are almost certainly going to end up with cops pointing guns at you and eating the pavement then cuffed. I'd say that's 80%. And sure to happen daily.

people will avoid you. (Hmmm that part sounds good to me)

of our society and govt keeps deteriorating then we all might be carrying rifles soon for protection.

see you jn the news :):

Then some state reps will be looking for new part time jobs

shall not be infringed! It doesn't say: what dudes in suits feel safe with.

we already need to get them to work fast to give us back constitutional carry in Indiana. This year it better happen.

Then they aren't rights. They're revocable privileges. Rights cannot be debated or negotiated away, only privileges.

    Philosophy doesn't matter.

I remember back in the day that every guy that had a truck had a gun rack in the back window and took it everywhere. I do believe times have changed though. If you were to do it now to many cell phones would be talking to the police and telling where you are and what you are driving. So I think that I would just pass on doing carring around a ar-15 or any long gun in public.

Yep we live under a govt now that encourages people to rat out their neighbors friends and family under the false
pretense of patriotism. Every time I hear the Kenyan say the word patriotism i puke in my mouth a little.
