I didn't make it to hot head burrito sadly... I thought there was too great a chance of falling asleep in my burrito to chance it so I just came home. Jennifer and the kids were thankfully about 15 minutes behind me :D now to sleep for 28 hours! LOL

the RB guys cleaned up on the Remington ball caps :D plus a few took home t-shirts. I proposed a match where everybody had to wear what they won at The Kolonel.

i may have gotten the Big Prize if Jeff didn't get called for something. I brought home a nice SureFire flash light!

Does this mean I have to wear my man purse? Why am I always absent when decisions like this are getting made.

Congrats to Brent on the small girly shirt. I don't feel so bad about my man purse now.

Next year I'm calling for a 10:00pm bedtime.

You win, I did get a pocket knife & whistle thingy though. Although it seems that someone kept my umbrella :mullet:

Had to tolerate D & B gloating over their plaques all the way home, I should get a medal for that.

Twas a very good match, a very good officiating & match facilitating crew, & a very good group of folks to shoot with.

Indeed it was. Btw, I did get called for that mag on the first stage (the boat). I didn't realize what you were talking about until after I went to reload my mags and noticed one had a round in it.
Also, after talking on the way home and thinking about it, had I not botched the wedding so badly, I bet I would've come closer to 1st place than 9th...

I think I may owe you an umbrella. SON OF A BAAGH!!! I'll have to dig through everything in the trunk and my bag but I think I messed up and left it on a stage. Man, I am sorry. I'll check in everything but I think I screwed up... Dammit!

Once we hit our 4th person snagging a hat or shirt it was inevitable that somebody made the call! I checked and that dang Surefire flashlight I won retailed for like $150... I'll bet that Tac-Man-Satchel surely retailed for close to that :D

for me out of this, I learned a lot. First, constantly check the forecast! Not just 4 days away and think the weather will hold. Second, bring rain gear even if there isn't a chance for it.

in all seriousness I had a fantastic time and even though I didn't win a Major Award I couldn't have came to a match in worse shape and I still had a shot and making a run for 1st. If I'd have made that single shot on the wedding stage and finished the match the same way, I think that single bullet could have put me into an easy top 3 if not top 2. I also know that fatigue played on me physically and mentally so it is time for some grip strength work! I can't wait to do this again!

Including me I think the "if ida only" thing is pretty much at 100% :). Maybe that is why we keep coming back at it.
It would be interesting to know if the target bags have any effect on target acquisition time or accuracy or if they are just sort of a non-event. Maybe someone has tested and found out? Had the thought of going by the dry cleaners and grabbing some bags (really need to get some for RB anyway) and maybe adding them to practice now and then.

I will have to admit, the bagged target idea would be nice with the way RB attracts crappy weather, for those of us who aren't afraid of a little rain. I guess it would be up to Steve-O of making a shoot/cancellation call. But I guess we could always do our own "standards" runs if a few of us want to shoot and Jeff wants to host us non-members, set up a few stands for drills and have some rainy day fun. Dunno if that idea interests anyone, but I'm all about any range time I can get. :)

Man, where to start... 1st thanks to all the SOs and staff that ran the match, I've nothing to compare it to so all I can offer is my appreciation.
Also, congrats to all the winners!

    My personal takeaways;
    1. Prepare earlier & better. Was completely unprepared for the weather & prepared too late for it (Tried finding hand warmers the day before but nobody had any) I'm a Texan. We hate cold weather. It's in the constitution.
    2. Must practice more at longer distances. Went to war with the activator on the car stage, could not find the center. Usually not a problem for me but don't usually have them at that distance either
    3. Practice in the rain and cold
    4. My 1st shots after reloads are pretty bad. Either put another one on the target as an insurance policy, get better at that 1st shot post reload, or both
    5. Lot's of mental mistakes, e.g. skipping target on wedding stage, reaching for magazine pouch when mag is in the toolbox, riding the slide release with the thumb so no slide lock (still shaking my head, thought I had practiced that one out of existence!)
    6. Practice in rain and cold

The plastic bags threw me a little for the 1st 2 stages but I got used to them quickly.
An earlier post mentioned the speed at which things were going and I agree it made it difficult to make a plan for each stage but with more experience I'm guessing the game will "slow down" and will hopefully be able to do better.

Overall, thought it was a great experience and definitely would like to go to another after spending some time on my list above. I didn't perform very well but know that I can do much better!

Yeah, it would have been great if someone could have warned of such a contingency:rolleyes::D

It would be interesting to know if the target bags have any effect on target acquisition time or accuracy or if they are just sort of a non-event.

Bagged targets should be a complete non-event. If folks were struggling because of the bags, it's because they aren't dryfiring at either an IDPA target or a homemade target in the shape of an IDPA target. Can't stress it enough folks- dryfire practice on those shapes. A guy can take a used target and cut out the -3 portion. Dryfire aiming for high center. :twocents: I downloaded some targets from the Enos forum, printed them on brown paper and laminated them. Works great.

Really David?? Nothing for the squad mom? It's a thankless job:laugh:

As for weather comments, refer to snarky reply to Mike's post, top of this page. :)

The slide release thing is interesting, I saw it a couple of times. I didn't know until you told me that this "used" to be an issue with you. That it came up again reveals that you put yourself under a lot of stress for the match. Try to tap back into whatever you did at WSSC and repeat that for all matches. :twocents:

You know guys, there's still time for you to get into the Music City Cup if you can handle another major:D

Late entries closed on 10/11 according to their form (not that I wondered about this or anything), you know if there is a way to see if they are full & get a late late entry in?

Michael made mention of my range bag (tool bag from Wal-Mart) at nationals and told me he might rig the prize table so I get a "real one." From the looks of the stages this is going to be an awesome match. Kirk (the SSR/DM) told me that he and the Ohio crew was going down and, of course, the TN guys will be there. It'd be great if some of us could show as well.

    Way cool!
    Thank you.
Do you know if we just show up, send in a form while there is still time for snail mail system, or do something otherwise?

You can go about it one of two ways. You can download the application on this link Music City Tactical Shooters and mail it in with appropriate fee. Or, you can walk on the day of the match and pay then. Either way he's not turning anyone down.
