I have owned a DPMS 308B and it was such an outstanding rifle. I had to sell it, but I would buy another in a heartbeat if I could. Even though I like the 308 AR's, I'd love to have one in 30-06 if there were more available. I know Cobb used to make one, they have been bought by bushmaster, who was bought by.... and so on.

I would say 9 Milli..More acuurate in a close quarter situation(In a house)..Ive heard law enforcement is starting to choose smaller caliber ARs for that purpose. Plus if you have an intruder you dont have to worry about the larger bullet going through the perp and into your neighbors house.

    Magpul/Lancer/BCM, are you listening??

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You realize that 9mm is a larger caliber (caliber meaning "bullet diameter") than 5.56, right? The trend in Law Enforcement for the past decade or so has been away from pistol caliber carbines and SMGs, toward 5.56 "patrol rifles" like the M4. One reason is that actual testing has shown the 5.56 to have less wounding potential after penetrating common building materials than many pistol calibers.

Actually in penetration tests, 5.56 ammo penetrates LESS than 9mm inside of houses. Less likely to penetrate through a bad guy, and if you miss, it goes through fewer sheets of drywall than a 9mm bullet. I didn't believe any of that but there is now ample proof to indicate it is true. So if you are worried about OVER penetration in a home defense situation, you are better off with 223 or 5.56 ammo than handgun ammo. It is my understanding that Hornaday TAPS 223 ammo is excellent in the home defense situations based on reviews I've heard and been reading.

Google "box of truth" it's a website where a guy does a bunch of bullet penetration tests. It's pretty basic tests, but they do show some good information.

Seeing how I have 5.56 and 6.8SPC, a 6.5 would be my next AR. It all depends on what you want it for. Want a plinker? .22 fits the bill. Want something with range? The caliber choices are many. Everyone has their favorites. Staying in the AR 15 Platform a 6.5 is hard to beat.

7.62 x 39. I am planning on picking up a 7.62x39 conversion for my XCR when Robinson Arms gets caught up on making their rifles.

There are many people running that caliber in ARs these days due to available of ammo ALL the time.

I own a 7.62x39. Accuracy is very acceptable in the AR platform, and ammo is plentiful.

I want a Stag 7, in 6.8 SPC. This rifle has a 20.77" barrel with a 1 to 11 inch twist. In a Guns and Ammo magazine review, with SSA 110 grain accubond ammo, groups were 0.11 of an inch (100 yards), at close to 2800 fps. Hard to believe, I know.

Also I would like to try the 6.5 MPC (SSK industries), 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x40mm, and the Remington RAR .30. Most of these rounds are accurate enough.

I think I would like one in 7.62x38 or the 6.8. Is the military still looking at the 6.8 for a standard round or still testing?

.357 maximum. Since that'll never happen, I'd settle for .357 magnum. I'd like one of everything in .357magnum, of course. That being impossible as well, how about .204 Ruger in a 24" fluted stainless bull barrel with a nice 6.5-20x 50mm scope for turning lots of varmints into a fine pink mist.
