I realized how easily I had fouled draws this winter. Extra clothes to push around while trying to present was quite the eye opener. This was all from staying stationary. I practice a lot more with my blue gun now.
Another big foul was drawing a mag for a reload and having my un-tucked shirt tail in my hand as well. Forced myself to continue the reload and then almost laughed at how silly I was.
This is one of the things that we work on during the class. You also need to have an option if the threat is too close to even perform immediate action drill and go hands on instead. It is about he fight, not the gun.
Since the last time I have been to Indy I have made a large part of my living bouncing, most notably the Ottobar in Baltimore, known as the city's premier rock and roll venue, with concerts seven nights a week. I started there when two private students who were also bouncing there had me to the bar to work with all the bouncers, which led to be coming on board. Putting hands on that many people allowed me to hone my skills, especially in the area of balance manipulation, and this has been added to the Spontaneous Attack Survival curriculum (morning of day 1 7X7). We will also be spending more time on weapon retention in and out of the holster. Looking very forward to my return.- George
BTW still room in the class
