The problem in Marion County began when they decided to end a 35 year old lawsuit claiming overcrowding of their jail. To fall in line with a federal court order, Marion County began their "catch and release" program.

I would prefer a system like the sticker I saw on the back of a truck window one time. It had a picture of a fish skeleton, and the caption below it said, "Filet and Release". :):

Tents and pink fatigues for the felons. Crappy food. No TV. No degree programs. Sheriff Joe does it. It's time Indiana did it.

The punks know the systems (in and out of schools).
In school...........you need to keep them in their "seat" for X amount of days or lose govt $.

Grades fixed, special allowances/extensions, and orders to not discipline................just to help fight the "problem".

    The "problem" ?

    Young black males not graduating.

The system doesn't lift up the problem kids, it lowers everything around them so they "pass".

This teaches them there are no real consequences for their actions, and the universe indeed revolves around them.

    Demand less, get less.

Exactly. They will always perform down to the expectations.

    Simeon Adams pled guilty today.

[strike]Now onto sentencing[/strike] See VUPD's post below, sentence is set...No matter what outcome, there is no justice here. This kid never stood a chance, and he ruined the lives of at least three other people on his trip down the drain.

His plea included a sentence of 55 years

Thanks, VUPD, somehow I missed that when I read the article. I would have preferred life w/o parole...even at 70 y/o "lil red" doesn't belong on the streets.

Unfortunately he will probably be out after only serving half that time. Whereas Trapuzzano's widow and child will spend the rest of their lives without their husband and father. Yay justice.
