I don't think the state house is the place to fly that flag. If I lived there, I might feel like it's the state house of people who identify with the Confederacy, rather than the state house for all South Carolinians. If I lived there I'd advocate to take it down. But I think that decision belongs with the people of South Carolina and not with social media wannabe civil rights advocates who don't even live there.

But that's a separate issue from the **** storm of everyone now frantically trying to purge every ****ing instance of that flag.

I'd honestly like to talk to these guys if given the chance. I bet if I asked them what "Stockholm Syndrome" was, they'd be clueless, lol.

Hypothetically, if a guy were to posit that some people, not saying these guys, but some people may take certain actions to be perceived as "one of the good ones" by certain other people....that never happens, right?

Wow man your really engrained with this false belief of yours aren't you? So much so that you feel the need to "tell the" how to be black because you just can't imagine why they're wanna have their own beliefs and be they're own people. Quit looking at anything and everything as racial. It will make you racist

I'm not referring to any individuals on INGO, but I find people being offended and outraged on the behalf of others more offensive than what is often labeled "racism" in 2015.
    QFT.

There's a lot of phony outrage these days. On both sides. But, if the internet has taught us anything, it's that we should be outraged.

Why do I feel like people are acting like Star Bellied Sneeches and just change for every silly reason?

You'd be surprised how many people actually are labeled in that way. Some immediately protest, but more than I wish, some accept it with pride, as if given honorary citizenship or something. It works both ways I should note.

Surprised? Not at all. I sit here a few miles from Gary and I hear people use the term "one of the good one's" fairly regularly...thinking that they are handing out a spectacular compliment and that they are open minded.

    No argument there.

Never will have anything to do with the rebel flag. I have never liked it and never will, to me it stood for everything wrong including slavery. I guess if you were brought up in the South you got use to seeing it as a child and identified with it. I believe for the most part the rebel flag has a different meaning than what it was so long ago, its more a Southern brotherhood thing than a racist thing. As long as the guy waving it doesn't cause me any problems, or anyone else I don't see a problem. But inside I just hate looking at it, just something inside telling me its wrong…..just the way it is.

Ahh. Try to pay attention now. Perhaps you don't watch the news? In which case, I salute you.

Who is banning the flag? Try to pay attention now. A "ban" involves the force of law. Has someone tried to get a law passed....or just asked the Supreme Court to declare, that any person, you or anyone else, can't fly whatever flag you want to?

That's right, claim victory and bow out having stated an unprovable proposition. Can't say I haven't used that tactic before.

If I was wrong, I'd admit it. Splitting hairs over who can "ban" something doesn't work on me. I'm bald. And I'm correct :):

No. the law is unnecessary. The social media tolerance warriors have it covered.

Tell me, when has that worked? Just look at the backlash here and elsewhere.

Leave it to a lawyer to try and get all precise with words.

Jamil, Henktermaat, go ask an Estonian what a flag ban is like. Then come back and admit your error. My guess is that they will be insulted by your claims of oppression and suppression. (I'll confirm this in August if you'd like)
