first thing is to see how much you want to spend

    under 100
    lightning-junky chinese copy of microtec(around 50 bucks)
schrade- single action(you have to cock it when you close it) soft steel(dulls easy) around 50 bucks

    under 200
h&k- good quality, american made(benchmade) double action single edge only around 175.00
paragon- american made single action start around 175, im not sure of the quality

    over 200
microtech starts a little over 200(ultratec line) and up to 700(scarab) great quality(not including the customs that are over 1000)
benchmade starts at 350 and great quality

if i were you, i'd contact brad and see what gunshow hes going to be at near you, and look at what he sells, plus im sure he'll be along here anyting to help you out!

good luck, and remember buy once, cry once!

That's it.. Don't know what they are in price range.. Since its first one..100-200?

Trust me on this the Microtech Ultratech is worth the extra $40 to get. Top of the line materials and warranty 100% made in the USA and IMHO Microtech is the best OTF's money can buy end of story. Its like I have 8 or 9 laying around..........

Great. Until this thread, I didn't even realize that I needed a Microtech OTF. Admit it -- rhino put you up to this, didn't he?

I love my Benchmade Infidel. The handle is big, fits my hand well. I also prefer the button on the fat side. It just feels more natural to me than a Microtech. It can do any cutting task (it's a knife) and I use mine a lot. If you ever need it for it's intended use as a weapon, I like the grip of the Infidel as it puts the blade horizontal, so it will slip through a rib cage easily. However, the only thing I ever killed with it was a deer. I hit her with my truck and crushed her pelvis, wasn't carrying at the time and had to put her down. It's my only OTF, but I love the one handed (even with gloves on) use.

That was a gratuitous Drive-By Crailing!

OK, I get it, I'm the only one around here who doesn't have one.

Au contraire, mon frère. Le rhinocéros n'a pas de couteaux automatiques. En outre, le Crail est bien mal.
