This makes a lot of sense the way Kirk puts it. It's not a big deal to err on the side of arrest for the LEO in the advent of odd circumstances, but it's a really big deal to me as the one going to jail.
In 20 years I have had a grand total of ONE LTCH holder arrested on failure to update. We got it diverted, but rather than paying some slick lawyer in Lafayette, who totally does not have a comb over, why not pay the $20 for a new license?
I know this is the gun culture and guys will invest $3,000 in an AR-15 for home defense rather than just turn on the outside lights, but it seems to me that $20 now is cheaper than hiring lawyers later.
A confused cop is an arresty cop.
