I was driving home from up north and got to the house and couldn't find my pistol. For two days I was freaking out. I found it under a newspaper on the back of my toilet. F---ing idiot.

Turkey hunting. Saw some big yellow morels.
Sat shotgun up against tree (chamber empty) and found more morels.
Enough my coat (used as a bucket up front) was full (could not carry shotgun back).
Went to truck and got plastic bag, went back and found more.
Took the load to the landowner- very happy.
Spent more time than I should have, trying to find my shotgun.

Wondered if a tresspassing shroom hunter had taken it.

Nope, it was right where I left it.

I have never actually lost anything, but I've had a CZ SP01 mag stolen from me at a IDPA shoot.

Now, I ALMOST left a 1911 at MCFG once. I looked up as I drove out of the bay area and saw it sitting on the barrel. I now conduct an equipment check before leaving the range, no matter what.

I lost my Griptilian that was engraved with my wedding day on it the first time I actually carried it. "Luckily" we found it when we ran over it in the work truck. I should be getting an email any day now from benchmade on how much it's going to cost me to fix. At least I still have it. :)

about 6 yrs ago or so I left a new $160 Taylormade sand wedge leaning against a tree at a golf course.
the moment I got home and realized it, I drove straight back to the course and there it was in the clubhouse.
    :rockwoot:

I guess that is shooting related. :):

:): ya I guess it's a stretch but you could file that sand wedge under "defensive equipment" ??? just ask Tiger Woods' ex wife. OH!

I left a NAA mini-22 under a pile of papers. Took me awhile. Knew it was in the house. Just not sure where.

Because of the prevalence of ruger 10/22 mags, I spray painted the bottom half of mine fluorescent orange.
Other mags are marked with blue and green electrical tape.

A couple weeks ago, the wife and I couldn't locate one of our J-Frames. We knew for sure it was in the house but just couldn't find it anywhere. I had to bail out of a planned event since we didn't want to leave a firearm unaccounted for and out of the safe. After an hour of searching, I took a break and thought of getting the laundry going. When I picked up a sock on the bathroom floor ... there was the little J-Frame. The sock had landed perfectly over the gun so as to mask what was underneath (it helped that the rug was dark colored too). The sock was small enough that it never occurred to me that I needed to check under it.

I'll bet you were talking to yourself the whole time.

I'll bet that was a warm fuzzy feeling of mixed emotions ... glad you saw it before you left but unhappy it almost got left behind

Hopefully it was just the grips/handle ... wasn't the blade, was it?

I've lost my nice hardly used Urban ERT convertible sling. Can't find it anywhere.

It will be Christmas all over again when it finally shows up.

For 10/22 mags, color coding is fine but you are almost better off just throwing your actual name on there as well ... too many of them around. I unwillingly donated a Ruger 10/22 mag at an Appleseed once. Didn't realize it until much later in the week. It never turned up. I think every AS instructor has a story of "donated" equipment at a shoot.

A few years ago I left a FULL ammo can at Kingsbury. I called the next day and it was turned in. I thought it was a goner for sure. I had to leave work early to drive down there and pick it up. I got it back without a round missing. With how scarce ammo was at the time, I was soooo happy to get it back.

I lost a lbt pack in the Army. Probably stolen. For some units this wouldn't have been a big deal but in mine it's taken very seriously. Very. Thankfully it was something I had a friend find stateside and have sent to me. Cost me several hundred dollars after shipping but it was worth it and a hard lesson learned.
That one sticks out to me the most.

My unit lost a set of NODs during a "Field Problem". The ONLY problem was the missing NODs, 3 extra days in the jungle looking for them! Missed the PX plane and everything. Not a happy week for the guy that lost them!

Actually lost lost... Kershaw Leek apparently came off my pants and was never seen again. Temporarily misplaced... I stuck a little Beretta .22 somewhere and it was a few months before I ran across it.

I lost upgraded Peltor Tactical Sports at the range. (gel seals, etc) Luckilly the members at AAC are fine upstanding individuals so it sat on the lost and found table unmolested for weeks after somebody found them and turned them in. Took me a while to get up there while the clubhouse was open (Im not a member) but I got them back.

I lost a Glock 17 mag at AtlantaCC a few years ago. It had my initials on it in paint marker and a buddy saw it in the lost and found. Before I was able to make it back, someone helped themselves to it.

Other than that, at least half of all of my stuff is lost in my house at any given time.

Lost a 4Sevens flashlight with 2 eneloops in it while shrimping on the FL coast... leaned over a rail and heard a "ca-sploosh" in the water... my buddy said, "Hey, what'd you just lose?", "Me? Nothing, I didn't have anything is my hands", "Uh, it fell out of your jacket pocket", quick check of the pockets revealed cell-phone was still in pocket... had to think a bit, then it hit me... lost the light... I would rather lose the light than the cell-phone...

Got home from a hunting outing late once. Grandpa's heirloom wool hunting jacket, pair of binoculars, and waterproof 35mm camera (seems like there was something else in there too) were left in the dining room in a garbage bag.

Someone, who shall remain nameless, "took out the trash," and the truck was gone before I realized it. That was probably 30ish years ago.

    OUCH!

Is protecting the identity of the offender crucial to you surviving another day of being married? (see what I did there?)
